TL;DR: Fun game but it's expensive, unpolished, and chugs really bad mid to late game.

I like the game. I've played it for over 100 hours so I can't say it's not engaging. My complaint is mid to late game chugging. After about 500M pops, ticking through a single day took 5-10 seconds on speed 3 and my specs are pretty good. I've read the CPU is used instead of the GPU for calculations. I'm not sure if that's true or not and I'm also not a game dev but a game like this shouldn't die as hard as it does late game. Also, this AAA game isn't very polished. Little things like the Victoria 3 logo gets cut off on the loading and exiting graphics, Spelling and grammatical errors, dialogs and descriptions that don't make any sense. All military ships in the building queue being assigned to one fleet or creating a new fleet.
Great game, taken me some time to learn, but once you have the hang of it, it is really fun and entertaining.
Has everything you would expect from a Paradox game. Needless complexity, unpredictable AI, random Alt-Hist stuff that makes no sense, questionable DLC model... There's a reason people play these games for hundreds of hours, though...
my biggest 2026 gaming experience ever .. laws , government , companies , how manage your empire , biggest improvment over crusader king 3 . one of best games everye gamer should experience .
This game, although claims to recreate the background of the historical era of victoria time, yet nothing feels like it. I view the Victorian era as a time where technologically advanced countries dominate and exploit those who were behind to collect capital for themselves. Although these technologically advanced countries might have less population, less capital overall compared to their backward opponents, they can still do what they want since there’s a qualitative difference. But in the case of victoria 3, the game decided to make no qualitative difference in goods despite tech, education differences. There is only quantitative difference. How does this translate into the game? Qing China with the lowest tier engine tech unlocked can build a motor engine factory using fabric and woods(albeit a slower speed) and produce the same quality of engine as Prussia with the latest engine tech(since there is no quality difference). With the lack of quality difference, every tech upgrade for your factories is just making it produce more goods. This means countries like Qing China can build a dozen factories to compensate for what they lack in technology. This has affected the war experience. Due to the lack of qualitative difference, the advanced trench soldiers will use the same gun, artillery, munition as the irregular troops, the only difference is the more advanced they are ,the more they need. This means “advance” unit’s stat and the way to unlock is just coded by the developers. Trench warfare did not emerge because there’s an advancement of firearms, but because you spend enough innovation to unlock it. This means the game’s design made an African nation with enough cash to build a lot of arms factories to have the same combat capabilities as their supposed colonizers. The way the game circumvents this problem is to purposely handicapped the difference of stronger units behind a tech, instead of unlocking them based on new types of weapon. I will not continue to talk about the flaws of this game in diplomacy, ai performance, game lag, etc. Just know that this game is flawed fundamentally, and any changes without adding the qualitative differences is just going to be some modifiers that makes you produce less or more as its current dlc’s do. If you ignore my advice and bought this game, pls do not buy the dlcs. They are mere scripted modifiers where you can find in workshops and temper on your own without wasting your money.
