Each NPC has fun dialogue and unique side quests, there is a large amount of weapons and equipment with different effects for a large variety of builds, the upgrade system is engaging, the map/level design is interesting and well thought out with a lot of hidden nooks and crannies to explore, a mix of recurring enemies from castlevania and new enemies with unique attack patterns, boss fights feel tough but fair and are enjoyable to fight even if you're losing, the aesthetics of each area are immersive and maintain a gothic theme while still being unique from one another, and there's also a bunch of extra modes and playable characters like any castlevania game. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is like Koji Igarashi took all the lessons he'd learned by working on castlevania and put it all into this one game. If you enjoyed the Iga-era Castlevania games then you'll definitely enjoy this, and even if you're not a Castlevania fan or prefer the classic era I'd still say to try it out.

Bloodstained is a visually stunning experience with a vibrant art style and impressive graphics that truly bring its gothic atmosphere to life. The gameplay is exceptionally fluid, offering smooth controls and an incredible variety of weapons and abilities that allow for a lot of creativity in how you play. However, the game does have its shortcomings, particularly with its somewhat limited cast of characters and a fairly predictable, average story. While the world feels a bit smaller than I expected for a Metroidvania, the sheer fun of the combat and the mechanical depth make it a journey well worth taking. 7.8/10
