this game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dont spend your money wait around sim
I can't recommend this unless you're comfortable either paying for a DLC subscription service or forking over money to Paradox like it's going out of style. In case that wasn't frustrating enough, remember that Paradox's idea of stability has degraded to the point where, "It just works."
1880+ multiplayer straight up does not exist. The game becomes unplayable at this point because you have to resync every single in-game week. FIX YOUR DAMN GAME. This game would honestly be fantastic if it wasn't for the absolute clown show of a multiplayer experience the developers have created. Maybe once every five campaigns a rehost will magically fix it, but don't get your hopes up. The funniest part is that around 1880 is exactly when countries finally finish building up and the game actually starts getting interesting. Players have industrialised, alliances are set, wars are about to kick off, everyone is finally ready to play the late game... and then the game decides to throw either a random CTD at someone or one of the other 200 multiplayer diseases the developers have introduced over the last six months. I cannot recommend spending even a single dollar on this half-finished disaster if you intend to play multiplayer. Meanwhile the developers should probably take a look at their own game, CK3, where despite having significantly more characters, interactions and calculations going on, this random desync and CTD nonsense somehow isn't a thing.
Love this game and love the absurdities which come from it -- such as Capitalists being so wealthy that they spam Automobile Factories in British Vanatu to the point where I have to go Command Economy to effectively even manage the economy. Probably my favorite strategy game ever.
this ♥♥♥♥ is so ass, cant even win American civil war with no cheesing because these devs are just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lost cause evangelists
What can I say? Scandinavian charlatans baited me into buying several expansions after I played it at launch (I've played about 150 hours in total). Yes, the game has improved. Has it gained soul? Still not. Are the naval invasion bugs fixed? Still not. Has the game stopped crashing in the 20th century? Still not. etc. The game isn't worth the money, even though it has ambitions on the scale of the British Empire.
