Game is insanely over complicated...also i don't have time to learn the game tbh.
Does not function whatsoever. The Linux version opens to a completely black screen whenever I try to open it. The Windows version crashes whenever it tries to save, both manually and autosaves. It runs horribly. I had a pirated copy for a bit to make sure it ran, and it functioned better than the steam version. Horrible. It's easier to play it illegally rather than legally. Paradox should be ashamed of themselves.
Love this game and love the absurdities which come from it -- such as Capitalists being so wealthy that they spam Automobile Factories in British Vanatu to the point where I have to go Command Economy to effectively even manage the economy. Probably my favorite strategy game ever.
i came back to this game after like a year and there's like 60 dollars of dlc's that could have been free updates. with such a trash release and such a trash progress i don't think it's worth to give it a second try again. just like any par*dox game, gameplay and the time given is worthless until they make 69 different dlc's that give content for some god-forgotten part of the world. i waited, hoped and coped at least 4 years for this game to come out and if this is the money greedy result that par*dox is going to pull out they and their inanimate corpse that once was smiling with joy can rest on top of the large sums of money and greed they have so righteously wanted to see. other than that war mechanic and its empty status effects still lacks behind compared to its predecessor that came out at 2010. pops are not connected to the state like how it was in vicky2, economic micromanagement is "buy low sell high" and it feels empty; no progress for 16 years just the same mechanics copy pasted and given to the player. only good parts are law enactions, the usage of real life terms, localisation of some languages and illustrations i may sound like an edgelord by writing these but its just that victoria 2 took a really big part of my life and it really mattered to me. my dissappointment and hate have no suitable phrasing in any of the languages i know. i played these series for 8 years god dang it... i'm planning to play them for 8 years and even more but not like this.
this game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dont spend your money wait around sim
Game is indeed very complex, but you learn how to do the basics really quickly. The rest, such as economics and military, you'll get used to while playing casually, it's a very fun game to pass time, but if you're playing online, welp.
I can't recommend this unless you're comfortable either paying for a DLC subscription service or forking over money to Paradox like it's going out of style. In case that wasn't frustrating enough, remember that Paradox's idea of stability has degraded to the point where, "It just works."
