It is the year 2034. Beneath the ruins of post-apocalyptic Moscow, in the tunnels of the Metro, the remnants of mankind are besieged by deadly threats from outside – and within. Mutants stalk the catacombs beneath the desolate surface, and hunt amidst the poisoned skies above.

Carma system works like ♥♥♥♥ but overall game is cool
Strongly recommend. Love this franchise.
I have finished the Metro Redux collection, and I really liked the game, it completes the story of Artyom, I wonder, what's the story in Metro Exodus. It's a must play.

I enjoyed this installation of the Metro series a lot, it has a lot of direct improvements to the game while keeping the core gameplay and aesthetic the same. The gunplay feels slightly improved with some new really fun guns you can acquire that feel overpowered even into late game, even with all of the new enemies that are thrown at you. The survival aspect is kicked up a notch, not often did I run out of ammo completely, but I did run out of money and filters quite often, making time feel more pressing. The maps feel more open to look at and a little more traversable here, with some really fun visuals above ground. The Metro system is just as good as it was in the first game, teeming with life and noise in every corner, there are even more interactions it felt like in this game than the prior. I've come to appreciate Artyom more as a character, I think he steps up a little more in this game and makes a lot more sense and feels more relatable, especially since you get to make your own decisions at some points. I liked the aspect of the story dealing with more of the human factions and exploring that, I do believe that the psychology of the remnants of humanity is where the true horror of the series blossoms. I am glad Anna didn't serve as the typical "Woman in the Fridge" trope, I was scared that the first badass woman introduced into the cast was going to become obvious bait for character development through something gruesome especially with where the story goes in some points. I really enjoyed the ending quarter of the game with the little companion you gain I thought they were adorable and is super lore important.

Really good
Game
Great game. I did not recommend Metro 2033 because of the tanky and repetitive combat and unintuitive morals system and Last Light did a great job on improving on this. TTK got lower AND stealth got better, meaning combat and stealth were interchangeable and enjoyable. The morals system made more sense because you were showing the Little One how humans can be moral. Artyom's relationships with the Little Dark One and Pavel were captivating and super well written Only gripe was how little they developed Anna's relationship, why are we madly in love with someone who has had 5 minutes of screen time and who degraded us that entire time? Are we that down bad in the Metro?
Seeing the game as a prelude to the novel 2035, really makes the story of the novel click (if you can read through the awful english translation of the book). The gameplay suits the engine much better than its predecessor Metro 2033 Redux.
