Every Hitman game in the series improves the gameplay of the previous one in some way. They'll refine what worked and make it better, and change/eliminate what didn't work. Except for Hitman: Absolution. Here, they've changed so many things, and removed things that worked, that it does not feel like a Hitman game anymore. With the new disguise system, anyone that has the same disguise as you can recognise you. This renders disguises, one of the staples of the Hitman series, almost pointless. Let's say that you want to get into a heavily guarded area. If you dress as a guard, they'll spot you. If you dress as a maintenance guy, you're not allowed in the area. So it's not really worth the effort, and you tend to ignore disguises altogether. The biggest deviation from previous games is that the levels are no longer big sandboxes. The maps are actually quite big, but they are divided into small, linear segments. Once you complete one segment, you cannot go back to that part of the map. So the game loop consist of sneaking from point A to point B to point C, and hopefully at the end of the level there will be some target to kill. All of this combined means that there is no longer a "planning phase", in which you try to examine the level and come up with an elaborate plan to (optionally) find the right disguise and eventually assassinate your target. Instead, you simply go from point A to point B while crouching and avoiding enemies, as if you were playing a really bad Splinter Cell clone, until you move on to the next really short segment. Rinse and repeat until you reach the end of the level and kill your target (if there was one, which is often not the case). The save system wasn't good in the previous games, but here they've managed to make it even worse. You cannot make any manual saves. Instead, you need to rely on predetermined checkpoints. These checkpoints are scarce, and many segments don't even have checkpoints. This makes the game very frustrating and repetitive, and discourages experimentation. In addition, if you need to reload a previous checkpoint, all the NPCs that you've killed, subdued, hidden, etc. will respawn... So the only point of checkpoints is to get you a bit closer to the end of the segment. The new point system is permanently visible, and you can see in real time how it penalises you for any lethal or non-lethal take down. This pushes you to play in the way the developers intended, rather than in your preferred way. I think that the game is more enjoyable if you completely ignore this point system and just play it your way. There is a massive emphasis in the story, in contrast to all the previous instalments of this series, in which the story has always been minimal, and really just an excuse to tie missions together, as the real draw of the Hitman games is the gameplay, rather than the story. Having said that, this could have been a nice change, providing that the story had been any good. Unfortunately, it's very cheesy, over the top, full of plot holes and poorly written characters. In each mission you can recover some hidden piece of evidence, which is completely meaningless story-wise, and it's just there to provide some extra points and extra challenge. There is an alternative game mode called Contracts, but the servers are now down. There are some online guides to spin up your own private server, though. Don't get me wrong, not everything is bad in the game, I think the graphics look great, and the gun play is satisfying (but the game punishes you for it). But Hitman: Absolution is just not worth it, even though it goes on sale very often and you can get it heavily discounted (for £1.50 or so), it's still not worth it in my opinion: this is, at best, a very generic stealth-action game. Instead, you should either buy its predecessor (Hitman: Blood Money), which is also often on sale and even cheaper, and it's better in pretty much every single way except for the graphics. Alternatively, if you want to play a more modern Hitman game, you can give World of Assassination a go, which I haven't played yet, but it apparently goes back to the successful formula of the previous Hitman games.
asks a daring question: what if we made a hitman game that was bad! Keep in mind this review is biased, i was only really interested in hitman games in a way that gets me Silent Assassin rank by importance: 1)the stealth system is clunky, a weird middleground between the older games and the newer games, has not enough polish. If the stealth of Silent Assasin feels jank in a charming way, and stealth of blood money feels purposeful and refined, this one is a weird mishmash of neither. If you dont like how stealth feels in old hitman games, this one wont do you any good either, go right to the newer games. 2)the designers of the game didnt quite understand what made the old hitman games fun, you will go entire missions without having to take anyone out, and then you will be taken out in a cutscene that you had no agency over. This may seem like a petty complaint, but it genuinely is a painful experience, to go through an entire mission without even having a target, and then being taken out in a cutscene because THAT is where your target was and The Plot had to happen. 3)cant grind to get Silent Assassin rating in every mission, doing a Silent Assassin type completion of a mission (not killing any non targets, not being spotted once, not using firearms excessively) will NOT give you silent assassin, grinding the same mission 4 times in different ways will. 3)loadout cusomisation is somehow worse than in hitman contracts, while also having meta-progression that makes you objectively stronger as the game progresses (and not in a way that makes sense like in blood money), which just doesnt sit right with me. I didnt much use customization in the previous games seeing as for silent assassin you arent allowed to use guns often anyway, but this game doesnt even have the decency to let you swap your missin start gun. 4)Not much to say on the story, blood money AND silent assassin both did it better 5)47 just often does not act like 47 in this game, its like he is someone else, this is not the same man that you played in the previous parts. if you like the old type of stealth, play the earlier games, if you dont, then skip straight to the reboots, absolution has almost nothing to offer

Recommended While many players compare this to traditional sandbox Hitman games, Hitman: Absolution stands out for me completely because of its masterclass storyline. If you love a game with deep lore, emotional weight, and a cinematic feel, this is an absolute gem. Here is why I highly recommend it, focusing on its best aspects: Deep and Emotional Narrative: Unlike other titles where Agent 47 is just a cold-blooded clone doing contracts, this game gives him a human side. Watching him go rogue against his own Agency to keep a promise and protect a young girl (Victoria) creates a highly gripping, personal story. Hollywood-Style Cinematic Experience: The pacing of the game feels like a dark, high-stakes Hollywood thriller. The cutscenes are brilliant, and the voice acting is top-notch, keeping you hooked from start to finish. Memorable and Gritty Villains: Antagonists like Blake Dexter and Benjamin Travis are incredibly well-written. They are so distinct and twisted that it makes taking them down heavily satisfying as the story progresses. Perfect Dark Atmosphere: The gritty visual style, detailed environments, and intense background score perfectly match the desperate, on-the-run vibe of the plot. Story-Driven Gameplay: Even though the levels are more linear compared to other Hitman games, this actually works to the game's advantage. It keeps the narrative tight, focused, and moving forward without any boring gaps. Final Verdict: If you prefer a strong, narrative-driven experience with great character development over just repetitive stealth puzzles, Hitman: Absolution is a must-play. The story alone makes it worth every second! My Rating: 6.5/10
Kill your ex-handler Psycho (1960) style, become a father figure and keep killing friend of friend of friend of friend of the target you are looking for while being hunted by the whole country. Hitman: Absolution is a step towards what would become the World of Assassination trilogy as many of the features are similiar. Though after playing all four old games, it was a little rough to learn the new controls. Personally I like the style of Absolution and it's gameplay did grow on me, but what I love is the damn cutscenes oh they got my toes curling. The story got me excited like I was watching a full-on movie. However this did overshadow gameplay as I spent mostly cruising through levels and mechanics like disguises were frustrating to use. And the game has a problem of being SO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ HORNY. So many instances of not needed sexualisation. But I did get to see a short haired chick in her underwear LET'S ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GO BABY THAT'S WHY WE GAMING BOYYYYYYYYYSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Used to love play this game back in the days, but now i just realized how out of pocket and stupid (in a funny way) the background character conversation are
