Started off slow but it paid off in spades. Great game
I bought this game thinking “okay, just another zombie open-world game, nothing special.” Now I’m emotionally attached to a broken man, addicted to a motorcycle, and personally victimized by a bunch of infected people who run faster than my life decisions. Days Gone is basically: “I’ll just do one mission” → 6 hours later I’m still riding my bike in the dark praying I don’t run out of fuel “That’s a small group of enemies” → entire ecosystem collapses into screaming chaos “Stealth approach” → accidentally sneeze → war starts Deacon St. John talks to himself so much I started replying out loud. At some point I wasn’t sure if he needed therapy or I did. And the hordes… Nobody warned me that “horde” actually means “nature documentary about how quickly you can accept death.” First encounter: RUN. Second encounter: RUN FASTER. Third encounter: Okay maybe I can fight them. Fourth encounter: WHY DID I THINK THAT. Despite all that, the game is weirdly addictive. The motorcycle travel, the survival tension, and the “one more mission” trap are dangerously well made. It’s not a perfect game, but it is a “why am I still playing at 3 AM?” type of game. would panic-run through the woods again.
10/10
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 24: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

when I think of this game there’s so many things reeling me back in because it’s that good – and the fact that there’s a DLC made the revisit so much better! hordes of zombies set against the backdrop of the Oregonian wilderness plague Deek, his best bud Boozer, and their community. we are thrown in the midst of a Freaker outbreak and NERO (National Emergency Response Organization) don’t seem trustworthy either so the best call is to “ride NOMAD” through different open-world regions taking sides, collecting bounties, fighting hostile factions (Rippers, Marauders, Anarchists), upgrading your bike by the sweat of your brow, and doing your best to survive, earn the encapments’ trust and live another day. the story will hook you from the start; it’s got everything: action (swarmers, grenades, screamers, napalm, rifles, &c.), romance, friendship, bikes, wilderness (and not just breath-taking views of the Pacific Northwest, but also dangerous encounters with cougars, bears, and infected animals, which will keep things exciting). additionally, the game features an interesting herbology system and includes countless collectibles. plants and berries can be used to craft items and cocktails (stamina), but they can also be sold at kitchens for Trust and Credits. other collectibles include historical markers, landmarks, notes relevant to the story lines and quests, and intel. when you tire of the story, you can take a break and opt to clear out areas in your save, or play the Challenge and Horde Assault modes to unlock achievements and plenty in-game goodies. anyways, it’s like Boozer always says “I hear a bunk calling my name…” 🐰💤
🧟
Motorcycles + Guns + Crafting + Zombies + Hunting + Open World WITH STORY = can't go wrong. Open-world survival game with real setting, motorcycle riding/drifting, zombies, hunting, and crafting. Pretty game with a variety of weather effects and biomes, story's good too, but takes a while to get there (past first area, 15 hours to open up, more characters to meet). Works perfect on handhelds (Legion GO for me). I couldn't ask for more! Except I will, using real places as settings for video games is perfect. Imagine a Days Gone 2 set in Australia and New Zealand like in the Wyrmwood movies where they have customized armoured cars to go through hoards.
Days Gone: A Biker's Journey Through a Broken World
It sat in my Steam library for three long years, staring back at me like a neglected project in the garage. I finally found the time to fire it up, and I am so glad I did. When you spend your real-world hours chasing that "road therapy" on a HiSpeed Freedom 200cc, you develop a very specific appreciation for how a game handles the open road. I didn't boot up Days Gone just for the survival mechanics, I came to it because I can notably relate to Deacon St. John. He’s not a superhero, he’s a biker. And while this game could have been better, a lot better, in a few technical areas, it still manages to be an unforgettable ride. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3770184942
Riding the Pacific Northwest
Let's talk about the road first, because Bend Studio didn't just put a motorcycle in a game; they captured the absolute soul of what it feels like to carve through the wilderness. Drifting that drifter bike down the wet, winding roads of Oregon is an unmatched, genuinely therapeutic experience. The environment is a staggering achievement. They managed to showcase Oregon State’s rugged, rain-soaked, pine-scented beauty even while the world was literally ending around it. You can feel the chill in the air, the mud kicking up against the chassis, and the constant, paranoid need to keep your tank full. It’s an open world that begs to be explored, proving that the Pacific Northwest is just as lethal as it is breathtaking. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3775526820
Deacon and the Weight of Survival
The story’s narrative is easily the beating heart of the whole experience. The way the story is written, showcasing Deacon’s grief, loyalty, and rough-around-the-edges humanity, feels raw and genuinely grounded. I love his character. He’s a tired drifter trying to make sense of a nightmare while holding onto the ghost of his past, and you feel every ounce of that emotional weight as you progress through the campaign.
The Scars We Bear (And Why We Love Them)
Of course, no love affair is without its frustrations. Some of the little details that were left untouched drive you slightly mad. For example, why on earth does the flashlight follow the camera's direction instead of pointing where Deacon is actually facing? It’s a minor detail, sure, but it’s the kind of immersion-breaker you notice when you're paying close attention to the craftsmanship. But you know what? Nothing is perfect, and honestly, that is the beauty of it. The game wears its flaws and its grit proudly, much like the characters fighting to survive within it. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3772689555
Pros:

The Drifter Bike Physics: Handling the motorcycle, upgrading it, and just drifting through the mud is deeply satisfying and captures true biker freedom.
Stunning Oregon Scenery: Bend Studio’s recreation of the Pacific Northwest is breathtaking, dripping with atmosphere, rain, and incredible vistas.
Deacon St. John: A deeply relatable, flawed, and fiercely loyal protagonist who carries the narrative effortlessly.
Pure Adrenaline Hordes: Fighting off hundreds of Freakers at once is a tactical, heart-pounding rush.

Cons:

Unpolished Details: Minor technical oversights, like the camera-bound flashlight and occasional clunkiness, remind you that this diamond needed a bit more polish.
Pacing Issues: The story takes a while to truly catch its stride, testing your patience in the early hours.
Missed Potential: You can see the scaffolding of a flawless masterpiece, leaving you wishing they had ironed out every last kink.

Conclusion:
Days Gone is a beautiful, flawed masterpiece. It’s rough around the edges, occasionally stubborn, and wears its scars proudly, much like the drifter riding its roads. If there is ever a sequel, I just want them to fix everything they left untouched in this one. Until then, I'll keep the engine running, the tires burning, and the memories of the Oregon wilderness close.
One of the most enjoyable story games i've ever played. Completed on PS4 and again on PC just to experience it again. Really so great and well worth your time.
good story, good vehicle mechanics love the characters and overall just a fun game with great characters and an amazing story. P.S. dont listen to bad reviews there false and people barley played the game
Overall, I genuinely enjoyed playing this game, great gameplay features, decent plot with charismatic characters. I really liked killing hordes in this game, nice feeling when you are alone against hundreds of freaks running after you). Optimization if fine although there are some fps drops depending on the density of the location where you are. Getting all the achievements took me 2 playthroughs + permadeath run which isn't that difficult if you understand how things work in this game. Many people disliked the game back in the day and it didn't get as much glory, but for me it's an underrated gem, really wish there was a sequel.... Deacon St. John <3
