Game was overall really good. The one downside to the game is the combat is not the best and can be very bi polar on difficulty. BUT THE STORY!!! ITS SO GOOD! Just like the last game I started to get a little bored and then at the end of it they make it one of the best stories I've ever been blessed with in my whole life
The game seems awesome. Story, graphics. A lot of challenge. But it feels like everything is designed to make the player fail. Missions that make the broadest assertions without even a clue of what to do. I just tried arm wrestling which is tied to an important mission. The game gave a slight hint about keeping a bar in the middle before starting the match without even the time to fully read the info box. Failed it twice now until I asked Grok (Which is a repeating pattern) He explained the keyboard inputs that the game itself decided I didn't need to know. Another example was when I accepted a simple quest to slay some monsters. After getting some nearby power up, slaying the beast was fun and not that difficult all things considered. But I ran completely into a wall on how to progress the quest after killing the monsters...? So apparently I need to talk to a specific guy, then get a piece of paper that allows me to make bombs (Which I also need to craft them myself btw) then I need to go and find all these dugouts around the map to finally go find another certain dude and get my reward and complete the mission. This game turns the simplest, easiest activities into fetch quest boredom filled chores. I work 40 hours a week. If I wanted to deal with needlessly difficult tasks, I would just go back to work.
А я в New Vegas играл!
For all of my technical and mechanical misgivings and grievances for The Witcher, I found myself captivated by its charm, its characters, and its setting; a sea of conspiracy and monarchical intrigue enmeshed with fantasy occurrences at once horrific and wonderous. This intricate balance is dispensed with in The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings in favor of leaning much harder into the political machinations and away from focusing on individual characters and their interplay with each other. This is not so much a misstep so much as it is a step away from the things I valued most in the prior game, diverging radically from what captivated me about its prior installment. It is still every bit as much as ambitious as that game, much to my respect. However, as the result of a narrative driven by far more unlikable characters that in turn strip Geralt of much of his personality in their presence as well as deeply interminable game maps with very few landmarks to help one orient themselves even with the presence of a map you can refer to, the issue of wandering back and forth across the map is just as if not more severe in this game, unaided by a shoddy checkpoint system that would have me playing over entire combat encounters and dialogue sequences unnecessarily. Eventually, I grew to hate the gameworld, I hated these pissant incestuous monarchs and their treatment of everyone and everything around them. I missed the colorful characters that drove the prior game. I respect a work that chooses to center an unlikeable presence--one of my favorite games is Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days and one of my favorite films is Pennies from Heaven--but dealing with these people for a game that, for me, ran almost 100 hours, was deeply exhausting, annoying, and draining. I did not play the Roche path as I sided with Iorveth against this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up monarchical nightmare and I currently possess no interest in the Roche path. By the end, I hated nearly everyone save for Saskia and Iorveth (who is the game's most interesting character by far) and I was glad to be rid of the game. I do not regret playing it and its predecessor as now I have better context for The Witcher 3 but I am glad to be finished with it. Perhaps I'll go back to the Roche path one day but that day is not today. Couldn't really recommend this one.
