i scorned the scorn outta that guy
Definitely a case of "then play a different game", but I think Scorn would've been AMAZING if it didn't have any kind of combat in it. It broke the atmosphere for me entirely, using some incredibly primitive "gun" that was made to visually fit the aesthetic. I was so immersed in the helplessness and confusio of the game, and I was so disappointed to be like "oh ugh I have to shoot/punch things now, I don't want to play a clunky horror shooter". I'd say get it on a discount to see if you like it. Full price is crazy work.

I really don't understand the hype about this game. The combat is incredibly tedious and slow. I wouldn't have minded if it was challenging or punishingly hard but everything was an annoying snore fest to get through. In a way, Scorn lives up to its namesake, because I hated playing this game. Enemies weren't satisfying to defeat. I just wanted every fight to be over with. I've also kept hearing from others how eerily beautiful this game was but it just looks like grey mush over and over again. It looks like the Collector's Ship from Mass Effect but more boring. The Falmer Camp's in Skyrim but more ugly. I'm literally only going to finish this game to complete the achievements. 2/10 Only because I did like the designs of the weapons and the Crater Queen. EDIT: I finished the game. I couldn't wait for Scorn to be over. It had gotten worse somehow. Even more dreadful than before. Absolute garbage combat with the final enemy, despite its cool design. A sluggish trudge to the final cutscene. I did think the very end was eerie, sure. But all I could think when the 'Fin' achievement popped was, "What was the point?" Knocking a point off. 1/10 A waste of time.
Scorn doesn't know when to leave you alone to enjoy its contents.
Phenomenal spectacle and a fantastic world to experience, utter nightmare to actually play

Ugh, hard to say yes to this, mostly because the game does bring some good environments for you to explore, but the gameplay is lacking and I think the game with it's aesthetic would've been better if it were just a walking simulator. If you like the aesthetic, sure, you can go for it, but don't expect to be free to explore, the game has arbitrary confusing puzzles, they are not clever, they are... ok...
The game doesn't make sense, you wake up, you wonder around, you get to the puzzles. There is no story. Its still ok! but killing enemies is annoying with the first gun. I ended up with a saved game, where I had 1 hp and there were 3 enemies in front of me. I reloaded from a previous load, I ended up hours back in the game with my latest load being gone. Not gonna spend time to redo it.
