So damn good! Instantly in my top 3 horror games. The story, the characters, the atmosphere, the themes, and the questions it presents are among the many things that are really well done. SOMA is also one of those games that really sticks with you after you play it. I don't really have anything bad to say. I mean the gameplay itself isn't to the level of Amnesia TDD or The Bunker but it's not just walking around either and the story more than makes up for it. I guess I did also have some slight lagging and some textures needed a sec to load in but nothing that made it even slightly unplayable. Amazing game. Highly recommend.
If you like sci-fi, play this masterpiece. If you like horror, play this masterpiece. If you like games, play this masterpiece. If you do not like games, play this masterpiece. F it, write your masters thesis on it too.
Чудова гра :) чекаю на "продовження", яке було анонсоване нещодавно
Whatever god came to our realm to bless this game's creation, whatever developer sold their soul to produce this piece of media, whatever child was sacrificed to bestow fate upon the keyboards that coded this game-- thank you. 11/10 game, would take Simon's place just to have more of it.
soma is a game that will legitimately give you existential crisis and question your own humanity. a slow-burn, atmospheric sci-fi horror, full of peak storytelling. genuine banger from the dev of amnesia, exploring sci-fi genre in its own way. 10/10
I never play horror games or walking games, but it was recommended to me so I figured I'd at least give it an honest try. I am SO glad I did. This game was a breath of fresh air. I finished it only 12 hours on Normal mode and it was less 'scary' , more suspenseful. The game battles with the idea of identity, humanity, and purpose - forces you to make hard moral decisions and pushes you to think outside the box ( pay attention to every detail- literally! ). The enemies (on normal) are simple-patterned and easy to avoid if you remain patient. I'm not a horror game girly and will never be, but this was a game I very much enjoyed. The story is thought-provoking and the level designs extremely real and beautiful- you are immersed in a hopeless, desolate atmosphere befitting of the unfortunate events taking place. GREAT GAME. 10/10
I didn't know what to expect going into this game but it blew me away. Where do i start, the graphics and atmosphere is great and looks amazing kinda reminds me of a futuristic bioshock. For a 12 year old game the attention to detail is amazing and detail is littered everywhere which is extremely handy for a game in which the environment is the story. The sound and audio really work well in this game from the screams of the monsters that are chasing you to the footsteps the main characters makes adds to the immersion greatly. Now the story is really where this game shines and the ending left me sitting there pondering on the philosophical points that this game brings up and throws in ur face. Overall i had a blast with this game it is worth every dollar, would highly recommend getting this game and giving it a go even if you aren't a huge fan of horror like myself you will still enjoy it.
I am not typically a horror game enjoyer, however, I really enjoyed SOMA, primarily due to the storyline and characters. This entire game revolves around an interesting philosophical debate and multiple moral dilemmas, plus the ending was/is iconic. While it was a bit laggy and some parts weren't super well-optimized, the story more than makes up for it as you discover what is happening. There is basically zero combat, although a few enemies do need to be avoided. Easy recommend, one of my favorite games I finally played in 2021. Great job Frictional Games!
i'm so terribly horrified of horror especially in water but this game seemed way to good to pass up trying. amazing story telling, probably soiled myself once or twice, and am very happy I took the time to play it even if horror games shake me to my core lolll
