I can't die before seeing a Yoko Taro-style 'congratulations' scene. Imagine the possibility of that madman connecting Evangelion to Drakengard with ending [E]vangelion and revealing that the actual First Impact was Tokyo 2003... Yoko taro stilinde "tebrikler" sahnesini görmeden ölmek istemiyorum. Adam Evangelion'u drakengard a bağlayıp Actual first impact 2003 Tokyo falan görme ihtimali .
Having played Automata first and looking for more, this game did not disappoint. In fact, it exceeded my expectations by delivering yet another beautiful, genius narrative full of complex characters and deep side stories one could analyse and ponder on for hours on end. The story is simple at first with a slow build-up that turns into a brilliant plot subversion, recontextualising past events in a way that transforms the game from a light-hearted experience into one of the grimmest stories out there, filled to the brim with hopelessness and despair. I thoroughly enjoyed how the themes of human psychology, death, acceptance and rebirth were explored, as well as Yoko Taro's unique take on the classic trope of human cloning and his treatment of the moral and identity issues that arise with it. The genre-shifting gameplay and reworked combat are reminiscent of Automata's mechanics, simple yet entertaining. I definitely enjoyed the magic and words system more than the pods. What I loved most outside of the story was the soundtrack. It's dramatic, epic, and grand, and in my opinion its quality even surpasses Automata's. There's not a single track in the game that I'd rank below fantastic. However, the side quests feel dated, mostly consisting of shallow fetch quests with only a few notable exceptions, and having to repeat certain sections to obtain all the endings becomes rather tedious. These are definitely the biggest complaints most people have. Both Replicant and Automata are, as many people say, flawed gems. Their flaws however, are part of their identity and all that makes their narrative so compelling and revolutionary. Yoko Taro's game design offers both the good and the bad, letting the player decide which to cherish and remember their experience by, a half full/empty cup that mirrors life itself.
I have bottled up emotions, this game isn't helping.
Incredibly annoying and tedious to complete, but has a storyline and cast so exceptional that is far more than makes up for it
Pros: - 7.5/10 combat system - 10/10 soundtrack - 10/10 characters - 10/10 dialogues - 10/10 voice acting - 12/10 story/lore Cons: - There are a lot of fetch quests that don't add much to the story - A lot of running back and forth and repeating the same thing over and over again - Weak progression system - Lack of enemy variety - The game could do a much better job at respecting the player's time especially since this is a single player game (there's a lot of running back and forth and repeating the same thing over and over again)
It's not even a good game in 2021's standard (a half-baked / lazy remake), and you'd be frustrated if you came here from Nier: Automata.
yeah, it's good. real good.
