L.A. Noire

There are a few things you need to be able to say yes to before you try this game: Do you like heavy story driven games? Are you OK with the aging Rockstar controls? Can you deal with a slow burn story that drags a little but ultimately pays off? Can you get behind the slow research and interrogations that each case requires? Do you like 1940s detective stories? If yes than this may be the game for you. L.A Noire reminds me so much of the movie LA Confidential in a good way. It was a really ambition undertaking at the time and the care taken shows despite the famous crunch required to finish the game development. The cast is stacked with Hollywood actors and the facial motion capture is unlike anything else. You'll recognize a lot of the actors. I think there are a few missions that could have been cut and the DLC doesn't add much here. The open world driving isn't a huge addition either but seeing 1940s LA is interesting for a bit. Thankfully you can ask your partner to drive which functions as a nice fast travel once you've seen enough. By the time you reach the end of the game you will have gone through a great twisting detective story. It's all well acted as you move through the LA PD ranks, meet new characters, and uncover the corrupt players pulling the strings behind a large criminal conspiracy. It's a special piece of gaming history but may not be for everyone. If it suites your style you'll enjoy it.

L.A. Noire is a masterpiece of storytelling. A captivating atmosphere, unforgettable characters, and one of the best detective experiences ever made.

the effort it takes to get it running almost hides that the game just isn't very good

this game is genuinely the least fun i have ever had the first mission im looking for the gun store but i have no direction and i am lost if you want to run around for 30 mins play this game

I'm sure this game is good but if you have a console or access to pirating, probably opt for that. If you've ever linked your Steam account to a Rockstar account, you'll need access to that email address in order to play this game and any other Rockstar game for that matter. Also if you try to resolve the problem through R* and submit too many tickets, they'll IP ban you from submitting any more. I submitted a ticket, was told to submit another, so did another, was told to do a 3rd but also was banned from submitting any more. A real shame.

I want to give this game a thumbs up review so bad, i love this game so much.... [spoiler]They ruined the game by making Cole into a POS. I cant imagine the Homicide Cole cheating on his wife. Not to mention its out of the fing blue... like just thrown at your face out of nowhere. Ive seen some people on Reddit say there were clues, but personally I never expected Cole to stoop this low and hurt his wife and children. It just makes me sad, im not sure if I wanna keep playing...[/spoiler]

great game, plays terribly on pc, for one it doesnt even start on my main monitor and has no borderless mode to fix it, secondly the game is 30fps capped and i shouldnt have to go download 10 different mods to play at 60+ ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game

Rockstar launcher is terrible why would you possibly need that for a almost 15 year old game. Game seems good but comes with the stupid launcher.
