Leaving this review to say that you can prevent the game from crashing by setting the executable in Combatibility mode and set it to windows XP you do that by right clicking the Executable and then open properties. Also run the game from the folder. Havent finished the game yet but having fun with it ya know
My absolute favorite "so bad it's good" game, but unfortunately this port is hot garbage. Even after installing community fixes the game still crashes frequently, and since you can only save in certain locations and there's no autosave, you can occasionally lose HOURS of progress for no good reason. This game eventually got a Switch port, but they did not come back to fix the Steam version which is not surprising. Get this on Switch, PS3 or Xbox 360. Also just as a disclaimer for anyone who somehow doesn't know this at this point: the game's narrative is a laughably obvious ripoff of the 90's mystery thriller TV series Twin Peaks and most, including myself, would only recommend this game to fans of the show.
1.4hours trying to set up a videogame from 2010 must be a sing of that i have to get my life in order
They shouldn't be selling a game that's barely functional on the store front. Play the Switch or PS3 versions.
People love referring to this as "the Best Bad Game" but honestly, it's just straight up good. I've spent a long time looking for games like this that tick the following boxes: Freedom to explore, Weird humor, Detective elements. The closest similar games are Alan Wake 2 and Disco Elysium. Let that sink in. The humor and charm in this game override the less desirable things like graphics being outdated or jankiness, and then some. At the same time the plot is actually engaging and unexpectedly deep. If you're on the fence, watch a video about it. You'll be sold.
Famous for being one of the best examples of a "cult game", Deadly Premonition is one I was very ready and keen to hate because, let's sumarize: Visuals are trash. Sound design is broken. Presentation in general is lazy. Gameplay is awful. Mechanics are broken, but… I played it, I carried on and... even though I didnt finished I really respect what it tried to do and made me very interested in the story. So, what's happening here? Well, the setting, atmosphere and writing are so, so good, so top notch that they single handedly carry this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game on their shoulders. Characters are amazing, script is great and York is a FANTASTIC protagonist, completely crazy but very likeable, love him! And the story, even though it's wacky, has a lot of heart and genuinly touching moments. The thing is... gameplay it's a damn slog, it's simply not fun enough, it's actually frustrating. I feel like if I carried on playing I would have started to hate the game itself, I know I was already starting to with that damn QTE double cam chase scene, jesus christ. But, like I said, the story is so fun I actually followed the rest of it on a playthrough on youtube. Man, it was really worth it! I'm a huge Lynch and Twin Peaks fan, but I was not really a fan of how closely it tries to mimic it. When it does, it almost always feels like the quirkyness and wierdness of it all is forced and not genuine. Game works better when it does its own thing. It works "well" on the Deck, but has a lots of bugs and crashes. A ♥♥♥♥♥♥ port for a "♥♥♥♥♥♥" game I guess. :D
This is the most twin peaksy game ever. Mix of RE4 and Silent Hill 2 combined with Twin Peaks story So said Mr Duraldo
Twin Peaks, the game. Been one of my favorite games of all time for many years. Play it.
Ti parla. Ti resta dentro.
