Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.29/day in the week to Aug 18 → 2.29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Let me preface this review by commending Frogwares for trying something new. I always support trying something new instead of going the safe path in media. If you are a fan of the other Frogwares Sherlock Holmes games like me, you should steer away from this one. It is jarring, disappointing and exhausting, BUT it also has an intriguing story. I will update this review while I'm playing the game. Update: I'm done. There are a lot of things to do in this life. This is not one of them The game starts off strong with an easy case to get you into the controls and new mechanics of the game, but after the tutorial, the game shows its flaws. Personality wise, instead of Sherlock Holmes and Watson, you get what a millenial hipster would consider a cool Sherlock Holmes with an imaginary friend. The City of choice is a fictional mediterranian one that doesn't know which cultural or national identity it wants. The open world looks good on paper and it's beautifully crafted, but unfortunately it's annoying to traverse. The Combat is okay. Not great, but also not bad. It is very handholdy even on the highest difficulty but at the same time will judge you for every misclick, wanting to ask a bystander or mistake. I deeply regret buying this game
-Hey, do you know what is a really good idea? Let's make our next Sherlock game by doing the opposite of everything. -Yeah, that sounds good! -So, what makes Sherlock, like...Sherlock? -Gosh, i don't know, the clothes and the pipe? -Let's go for Final Fantasy clothes this time. -Gloomy London? -Let's go for Turkey or Cyprus. Mid July. -His phlegmatic personality? -Oh yes, that too. Well, he is an angsty teen now. -Watson? -Let's replace him with some annoying ironic hipster, who is Sherlock's imaginary friend. -B... but, Sherlock would never have an imaginary friend... -Aha! You got the idea. Keep going! -I don't know... Sherlock always finds the truth? -No truth! We 'll go along with whatever the player chooses. Going existential, so hot right now. -I see... How about Sherlock's legendary observation and deduction skills? -Menus and gimmicks got us covered. The game plays itself, while the player enjoys our clever subversive hip talk. -Ok, References to early 20th century? -Memes. -Wh... what? -MEMES -Well-structured plot involving some murder or other? -Yeah, none of that. Open world is all the rage right now... -So? -Let's throw every case in an empty open world, i can make a dozen of them like, in an evening. -But it all will feel like unrelated, simultaneous radiant quests... -Bingo! Also, make them 'pin' things with the z key, otherwise the thing they are meant to observe won't even be there! -Good idea, boss! Frogwares, probably
This is such a 6/10 game. The moment I saw that the game is in open-world format, I was really excited, but so many hours here were wasted going between 5-6 locations back and forth. Most cases were too easy to solve, and most cases even threw the solution at your face. I liked older Sherlock games more, where I actually had to think quite hard before making the decision of who to accuse, but the game here just makes 90% of the decisions for you. Devs did go towards a better direction, but they are far from what they can do with the formula.
I really wanted to love this game. The atmosphere is fantastic. The city is beautiful, the music is great, and the cases themselves are genuinely interesting. Young Sherlock is an excellent interpretation of the character. Unfortunately, the game’s UX constantly gets in the way of its own strengths. After 10 hours, I realized I wasn’t spending most of my time solving mysteries. I was spending it trying to figure out what the game expected me to do. I constantly found myself asking: * Did I miss a hidden door? * Did I forget to pin the correct clue? * Is this the right NPC or one of twenty identical ones? * Did I overlook something, or did the game simply fail to communicate what it wanted? One moment perfectly summarizes the entire experience. The game asks you to find a recruiter identified by a small tattoo. The market is filled with dozens of nearly identical NPCs. There is no unique animation, no distinctive outfit, no dialogue like “Looking for workers?”—nothing. I walked around the market multiple times before finally realizing he had been standing there the whole time, looking exactly like everyone else. Then there are crime scene reconstructions where switching between suspects barely changes anything visually. I genuinely thought the button wasn’t working because the character swap was almost impossible to notice. None of these moments tested my detective skills. They tested my patience. The biggest disappointment is that the game constantly pulls you out of its own atmosphere. Instead of focusing on the investigation, paying attention to clues, or enjoying the story, you’re worried about whether you forgot to pin a clue, missed an invisible trigger, or walked past the one NPC the game wanted you to talk to. Good detective games challenge your reasoning. This game too often challenges your ability to guess what the interface expects from you. It’s frustrating because underneath all of these UX problems there is a genuinely good detective game. The writing, atmosphere, and cases deserved a much better user experience. I wanted to solve Sherlock Holmes’ mysteries, not Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One’s interface.
Ngl, not good Man the game’s got a nice vibe, but playing it is pure frustration. In The Devil’s Daughter, everything flowed smoothly the cases made sense, and you always knew what was going on. But in Chapter One, everything’s a total mess. One moment you’re on the main story, the next you’re kneedeep in some random side case, and then you’re like,“Wait, what the hell was I even doing?” And don’t even get me started on the walking... seriously, why the hell do I have to walk everywhere? Yeah, there’s fast travel, but it’s limited as hell. The city’s big, sure, but it’s empty you walk for five minutes and barely interact with anyone. They call it an open world, but it’s got nothing inside. The graphics? Man, it looks like something from 2013. I’m running the game on high settings, but the characters’ faces barely move. They didn’t even bother animating proper expressions you can only tell what someone’s feeling by watching their body language. And the worst part once you finish the main story, the game just ends. Boom. No free roam, no extra cases, nothing. You think, “Alright, maybe I’ll just wander around the city for a bit,” but nope — the game doesn’t let you. So here’s my advice: explore everything and do all the side cases before finishing the main story, because once it’s over, that’s it. You can’t go back. Oh, and some missions even block you from progressing unless you finish another one first. So yeah, they pretend there’s freedom, but your hands are tied the whole time. In short, Chapter One makes you think “an open-world Sherlock sounds awesome,” but the more you play, the more you realize nah, they should’ve stuck to The Devil’s Daughter style. That one had pace, focus, and energy. Chapter One is just walk, get lost, and then game over. I was expect a masterpiece but it is totally a piece of ♥♥♥♥ i swear.
The Sinking City: https://store.steampowered.com/app/750130/The_Sinking_City_Remastered/
I uninstall after the gilded cage case. The fact that you make an accusation and arrest someone based solely on circumstantial evidence and no way to verify the suspect alibi make this more like you just throw a dice and pick whatever come out, I mind as well called myself a medium rather then a detective. This is such a disgrace to the name Sherlock Holmes
