If you like Elden Ring, Dark Souls, Bloodbourne, Lives of P, etc., bsolutely get this game. It's very well done.
Fallen Feathers is the flagship title of the now tragically defunct Leenzee Games, having debuted to less-than-stellar fanfare on account of poor optimization and Chinese political discourse culminating in post-release censorship. From the smoke, emerged one of the finer non-FromSoft Souls-like titles available, now an ostensibly smoother experience from its rocky launch—minor instances of traversal stutter aside. Wuchang follows the design philosophy of older Souls titles by intricately weaving together linear but expansive paths, rewarding the player's curiosity without the need for an overtly open environment. The combat compliments well with no shortage of variables that ensure an experience optimized to player choice. I found myself reverting often to the longsword, but the ability to respec freely made it easy to switch up on the fly. Difficulty feels pretty well-balanced in the game's current state, acknowledging the several patches which have addressed some of the initial player frustration. Incentivizing exploration further is the sheer breadth and beauty found within the world of Shu, going from dreary, horrific depths to vibrant wilderness and ornate temples. Wuchang facilitates its visual identity through strong art direction and impressive structural detail. Sweeping orchestral accompaniment sells you on the dark Wuxia vibes of Bai Wuchang's journey. There's a decent story to engage with here, as well, with a healthy backend of NPC questlines—both on and off the beaten path. That being said, many of these quests break easily with enough forward advancement, making some almost impossible to fulfill on a blind playthrough and potentially impacting the game's ending. In my opinion, this is on the easier side of Souls-like titles, but with a fairly steep difficulty spike on the "skill check" bosses, i.e. Commander Honglan. A few of such bosses are relentless, forcing you to really engage with the game's mechanics; consequently, the remaining 70% might feel almost too forgiving. I didn't mind this personally, as it allowed some breathing room between the heavy-hitters, and the game's exploration adds an overall level of finality to the experience as a whole.
