About
The Outer Worlds 2 is the eagerly-awaited sequel to the award-winning first-person sci-fi RPG from Obsidian Entertainment (just look at the exciting number of dashes in this sentence!). Time to clear your calendar – get ready for an action-packed adventure with a new crew, new weapons, and new enemies in a new colony! So much newness!
As a daring and most likely good-looking Earth Directorate agent, you must uncover the source of devastating rifts threatening to destroy all of humanity. Your investigation leads to Arcadia, home of skip drive technology, where the fate of the colony, and ultimately the entire galaxy, rests on your decisions—your strengths, your flaws, your crew, and the factions you choose to trust.
The Arcadia colony is engulfed in a factional war, as the Protectorate’s so-called benevolent rule is challenged by the rebellion of their religious order and a corporate invasion. As destructive rifts spread across the colony, each faction fights to control or close them for their own ends. Navigate diverse zones, uncover hidden lore, and shape the fate of a system on the brink!
Build your character with the abilities and choices that reflect your playstyle. The colony reacts to your every move, crafting a narrative that’s yours to own—whether you’re a disciple of diplomacy, an astute strategist, a crusader for chaos, or something different altogether. And yes, you can dumb!
Recruit companions with unique traits, backgrounds and goals. Whether you choose to help them achieve their ambitions or steer them toward your own objectives, your influence shapes their growth (or death), making them an integral part of the immersive story you create together.

I love this game. It's a MIdsterpiece. I played NV back in the day and have an appreciation for Obsidian's stuff overall. For me this game feels like what I was missing from Borderlands 3 and needed still from New Vegas. I LOVE the character building/progression. The "flaws" are so great. Companions are weak and there is a lot of running back and forth fetch type quests. I really don't know if full price is justified for what it has offered so far but if you see this gem on steam sale of some sort well worth the time and bits.
All of the over the top attempt to be funny got pretty monotonous and I found myself just trying to finish the main quest to get it over with.
Fatal error!
Took me several months to finally complete this game. Outside of looks I found alot of stuff lacking from the first game in terms of immersion and enjoyment, the companions just didn't hit like the 1st game. Biggest gripe was no fast travel from your ship?! I gotta go through two loading screens to do anything. The 1st game had that feature, how hard could it be to replicate? Combat was definitely better than the first gasme, perks and flaws were pretty fun to mess around with but the level 30 level cap and extreme punishment of anyone who tried to spread out their skill point allocations did become kind of insufferable, had to start over and just spec into specific skills as you just miss 90% of the interesting choices otherwise. Overal it's... fine, it plays well enough and I had my ups and downs with it. I recommend it but definitely not at full price. I accepted the $70 price tag on release out of love of the 1st game but it just wasn't worth it at the end. 6.5/10
As a person who loved the first game, this game just pales in comparison. The first game had a more cohesive story, better companions, significantly better soundtrack. There's a certain charm the first game had that this game is just missing entirely. The first 5-10 hours of this game was great. The story starts out strong, combat is kind of a challenge, and there's tons of possibilities for character builds that lay ahead. But once you hit about 10 hours in, all combat becomes trivial, the story goes in all kinds of directions that's hard to follow, and it just turns into this terrible slog. The worlds are so big but so baren and nothing to do in them except combat encounters that are sprinkled around to pad out the game time. The level cap is only 30, and you hit that a little more than halfway through the game, so any hopes of leveling up that lockpicking skill are gone cause you spent all your points on other stuff, and now you can't lockpick anything anymore because the skill requirement is too high. There's a ton of various skill requirements for dialog and story choices, and unless you really specialize in some of them (especially Science and Medical), you'll miss out on the majority of dialog and quest completion options. The companions, minus the first couple, are not likable in the slightest. The first game's companions felt like a cool rag tag team of space pirates with a common goal. They hung out on the ship together, cracked jokes with each other, built relationships with you and each other. This game's companions all hate each other, some of them don't even want to be there, and they don't interact with each other on the ship at all. I really wanted to like this game. I played the first one through 3 times. This one I uninstalled immediately after completing it. I don't recommend it.
Opened the game. Did the below average character creation with no body setting AT ALL and very few actual control over your character's face (Can't even change my mouth or head size in any capacity not even the forehead). Then i did the extremely ordinary tutorial. Reached Paradise Island and landed. I see water and wonder if i can swim... Instantly drowned. Can't even try to swim you instantly die. Had to Reload. Then i went to the nearest town. Once there it felt like a dead town more than anything. I was stealing everything everywhere and no one was saying anything. I was not even in stealth mode or anything. Then i spoke to a couple NPCs that could be interacted with. Including a future companion with a mutant arm and hearts shaped knee boots with a very weird color palette for the type of character she is supposed to represent... (Insane puke inducing design overall btw). From there i took some quests stepped out of town to start working toward advancing the story and all that shmook. After a couple hours it hit me with all the subtlety of a top speed garbage truck on a separated bikeway. ''I am not having fun!'' This game is aggressively safe and lacking any innovation, it feels OLD! It's a repeat and uncreative slow burn process with insane limitation for a 2026 release. Vampire the masquerade bloodline which i played a couple month ago felt more alive and innovative than this and it was made in 2004! I cannot say TOW2 is the worst game ever. But i cannot say it's any close to being good either. This game might be visually colorful. But if there truly was a color to define it. It would be grey in it's most boring most used shade. It's hard to explain how strange this game made me feel... But i will try! Here goes! Playing it feels no different than going to work on Monday. You'r going to do something you have done 6000 times on repeat with nothing new and simply mindlessly power through while enduring the tasks for the money. The difference is that here you pay to work and it brings next to no entertainment value. It's too late for a refund SADLY! This game is never gonna be replayed even if i am bored to death. I'd rater rewatch The Good Place start to finish again than try to power through this uninspired piece of a game with lame political agenda spilling from all sides barely 4 hours in the game. Enjoy the last money you ever got from me Obsidian. You have lost my trust. I feel like i was lied to, then ganked and robbed...
Totaler DEI-BS!
