Was planning on 100%ing the game, had it since 2022 and just generally never got around to playing it and good lord I wish I could recommend it but after finding out i literally cannot purchase any of the DLCs thus making it impossible for me to get the dlc steam achievements, it's kinda frustrating me? Petty as hell reason probably but my ocd is really not gonna like the fact I quite literally cannot 100% this thing properly now. I got the spacer's choice edition for free due to having this version but I find it scummy that for people who don't have it, they have to buy it if theyre missing a DLC. Just genuinely feels like an awful thing to squeeze more money out of people. I'll probably pick it up later, try and get what achievements I can but I'm gonna have to do it ALL over again as well now because of the damn Spacer's Choice edition so. Great. I guess.
The combat is pretty fun, the guns have a good punch to them, and there's enough variety in guns to have fun with them. But, all of that is in service to a game with an uninteresting story, uninteresting fetch quests, and characters that you forget as soon as you've met them. Every settlement feels about the same, with unnamed NPCs standing in pairs talking about nothing, and the first real NPCs you meet will ask you to do menial tasks. None of the corporations I met stood out from one another, which was surprising given they're a major focus of the game's story. I wanted to like this game, but it's hard to justify investing time leveling up and improving your guns/armor to save the day in a game where you don't care what happens to any of the characters.

I jumped into this game, expecting a good story. I left pretty disappointed. I didn't bother with the sequel. The atmosphere is neat, but not very immersive, exploration gets repetetive quick, and well, the story is just dull. Nothing you do in this game feels all that consequential, and there's definitely a massive missed opportunity to underline the capitalist undertone that rules all of Halcyon, but even that is done in a super lackluster way. I only finished it once, and then never again. Buy only when steeply discounted, if at all. .... Actually, never mind that. You can't. Probably for the better.

This game would actually be really great if its cringey fringe extremist politics weren't shoved down your throat. I despise being railroaded in an rpg, and the dialogue options are absolutely abysmal. Aside from the railroaded dialogue and subversive, detached-from-reality/ capitalist-hating cringefest, I loved the aesthetics and the gameplay was fun. I probably won't ever play this game again or buy another title from this studio.
It's kind of garbage. It's fun in the first hour or so, then it gets boring. Making a joke out of everything doesn't make your game good, it makes it a joke.
Fun! Just keep your expectations realistic...it's no Fallout NV, and Obsidian is not the same studio it was back then.
♥♥♥♥ every single person who made this game.
When I first played the game years ago it was before the DLC dropped and I was left wanting more (In a good way!) and with their addition I'm thoroughly pleased! I love how choices matter and effect the gameplay moving forward in different questlines, I love the companion quests, I love the corpo-satire themes, and I love the weird flora and fauna of the worlds! Really fun game
