Hey Folks, So I love this game, played it on Day 1 with all the bugs and it was pretty rough, but it was fun to run around Cyrodill up to date with all my favourite DLC and relive the main quest of the Oblivion Crisis. But I cannot recommend this game at all. The bugs are frequent especially with NPC's on quest scripts that will.. stop working. For example, on the final quest of the game where an NPC talks to you and then the game goes through a cinematic view followed by the ending Cutscene, I could not get it to trigger unless I did a lot of reloading, finagaling, and rebooting the game until it finally worked. A year later, I unfortunately cannot get the game working on startup. A change was made to the base files this game ships with and for some folks (myself included) the game will crash on startup and Unreal Engine will send you a crash report. There is a work around for this, but it will take time and require a bit of experience messing with game files and trial & error. A great game, left abandoned by the devs & Bethesda, still functional if you are willing to fix it yourself. But any game should be able to work and be in a playable state when you go to purchase it outside of Early Access.
The Elder Scrolls have been abandoned. Traded for a wannabe MMO set place in a Wannabe Appalachia in a game that wants to be Fallout. We have been backstabbed by Todd's greed. He thinks he knows better, but he is ignorant. We give him his resources to create trash, therefore we must take away the hand that fed him. Boycott the new Fallout 76, if you already have it- you may play it, but do not spend your hard earned septims anymore on its filth. Let the investors eat him alive. Do not allow him to make his returns; his measly profits from creations that have no richer color than white and black. No deeper.
Oblivion is one of the original rpgs that made me fall in love with the genre. I was one of the many who fell prey to the nostalgia bomb when this remaster got shadow dropped. But, I completely fell off the game with plenty of quests still left to do because of the litany of quest breaking bugs and general glitches + performance issues (including frequent crashes the longer you play). With the Skyblivion team still hard at work and closer to release than ever, there's truly no point in buying Bethesda's (virtuos's) version of the remaster. Bethesda commanded that they abandon this title - just like they did fallout 4 - even as loads of problems remain. The only thing I would recommend is refraining from supporting Bethesda's gross corporate practices wherever you can.
All it does is crash to desktop. What a piece of garbage!
OK, this returns us to classic Bethesda like no other game - it crashes constantly. Probably the most buggy and broken game I've seen in the past decade. Unless you're a masochist, you're better off playing the original - IF you use all the fix and stability mods. You can mod original Oblivion to be super stable and (optionally) add a lot of features. It will never look as good as this version, but it will be far more playable and have far more features and fewer bugs. If they'd spent another 6 months actively releasing patches, this might have been an alternative to the OG as a simpler, prettier option. As it is, I don't think it's worth the money even on sale. I'd have refunded if I'd understood how bad it is, but it took me a couple of days to realize.
I love oblivion. I grew up with that game and for the most part, this is just that but with "better" graphics. However it runs so horrific that i have to turn down the graphics a lot to make it enjoyable. It also looks like someone just put default Unreal Engine around the old one and just called it a day. The Color-grading is the most boring stuff ive seen in years. It makes the game loose a lot of its atmosphere and just makes it look bland. I don't see me playing a horrible performing game that lost its charm compared to the original.
Very bad optimisation. Especially outdoor during tavels.
Man ♥♥♥♥ Bethesda. This was my most played game last year on gamepass and it's easily one of the most immersive games I've ever played but the performance is legitmately worse now then it was at launch. I spent 2 hours tinkering and downloaded the engine tweaks mod every knows about on nexus. Literally the number 1 performance mod and the game still ran like crap. I have a 3070TI 17 12700k and 32gb DDR5 Ram. I've played expedition 33 and plenty of other UE5 games and never had any issues with performance but this games just broken. Not only is the performance poor but it's unpredictable. Anyway I ended up refunding, very disappointed.
