It is painfully clear this game was made by Americans. An extraordinary effort was made to ensure a racially diverse cast of characters. This is no bad thing (although somewhat anachronistic), but it has come at the expense of the diversity dimension which is much more important which is diversity among the British isles. The fact that there are near zero students or faculty who speak with a Scottish/Welsh/Irish accent is really bad imo. Half of the staff (and some of the students) being foreign pushes it into insulting territory. It's like the devs tried to pander to a very online crowd and erased the people who would be present in this school. This game takes place in Scotland and you can roam about lots of villages and towns throughout the highlands, yet hardly anyone speaks without an English accent. Even those who are apparently Scottish like Sebastian. Most of the Scottish accents you do hear, are really bad. I remember maybe one Welsh accent in total? And one or two Irish accents? Really poor. I know this won't be a new complaint. But I'm new to the party, and this really stuck out to me.
You can do everything you can't do in real life, like casting magic and talking to girls
This game is awesome! it's so fun, I have had it for quite some time on my PS5 , can't believe i didn't get sucked into it on there. It feels like I am playing in a Potter novel or movie, can get very dark at some points and funny and light hearted in others, If you have not played this get it, you won't be sorry.
Epic Technical Witch/Wizard of Eternal Bugs... + great cinematic scenes + deep and epic OST + fluid gameplay in 4k (without modding) + much to explore + funny scenes and bits of humour,
saw a Knight armor clobbering his Armor Colleague because of the humming, that was funny
+ funny interactions while exploring + cool combat + system feels like Witcher 3 at times (which is good) + very detailed and mixed house architecture as well as interior design (cheers to that) + detailed npcs (conversation customized with body language to give more life to npcs) + npc quests and character quests + conversations are not stiff + much detailed stuff lying around and to interact with + detailed wildlife (pond with little frogs, fishes etc.) + filled world with small details + season change, weather change + there was
one quest that was really good
+/- many minigames +/- worldbuilding with ppl is a bit off for a 1890 Britain or around that time, too much diversity on the one hand, but logical story implementation in some sidequest the "why" and "how", so it was ok and fitting - missing QoL features (such as keeping/lock your Appearance after switching your gear) - crucial bugs and issues (Black Flickering, FPS drops out of nowhere, stutter, slomo etc.) - misc bugs which are pretty annoying (not solved after years) - Bugs like Revellio not responding correctly, some weird physics, some missing content deletion, vanishing objects/houses, vanishing and instantly reappearing npcs, money glued to the ground, falling through objects/ground, graphic loads slow (washed out tiles), light-effect problems in dark rooms (winter season), NPCs invisible in certain events (but there, where they shouldnt be, game continue some animations like screenshaking or explosions even there isnt anything there anymore, some Map Icon vanish or dont even pop up when you are close, Pathfinding on map is buggy, deactivated controller controls at times and not responding correctly and many more - terrible port (Engine loads faulty, slow etc.) - not optimized for 4k Gameplay or even PC gaming - some quests
dont connect with each other or ended unreasonably half-witted (like Jack Daw Quest)
- too much nonsense riddles, not needed for completition, but
when you wanna see more/get stuff etc. you should do this blabla
- CPU heavy, GPU load mostly not accessable which is odd Conclusion: Before you play this game keep in mind that you should mod it with the FPS Fix (Ascendio) and as well maybe the Broom flight fix, cause both will make your life in Hogwarts by far better. Sadly this game is not properly ported for PC, you will get a lot of stutter, FPS drops so that your CPU/GPU will likely kill themselves. You can avoid it if you take the formerly mentioned measures and monitor your CPU/GPU will playing. Else the game is pretty much wonderfull, I cant say anything about the world of Hogwarts because I havent watched the movies and didnt even read the books, so I cant say that is correct lore or world building wise. The Game is visually solid. Dungeons and other things are complex. The Game tends to give you some interesting quests, characters are lively and build relationsship with you. Sadly some aspects in Quests are left behind. Game is very good, but the potential to be perfect is hindered by technical issues, some lorewise illogical things or quest design. The Game is at times tedious and pretty much a hassle, but balances it out with some fun things. Combat is engaging but somehow limited in Talent building. All in all a good experience and I hope the sequel will balance out the difficulties this game has. Score: 80 13/10 You know a Merlin Trial when you see one 13/10 Female Dracula look-a-like with an Flying Paintbrush 1337/10 Lol Marionettes
The Wizarding World I've Always Wanted to Explore
As a longtime fan of both the Harry Potter books and films, I approached Hogwarts Legacy with very high expectations. Fortunately, this is one of those rare cases where a game not only meets those expectations but often exceeds them. After spending dozens of hours completing the game 100%, I can confidently say that every minute felt worthwhile. More than just a good adaptation, Hogwarts Legacy feels like a genuine love letter to the Wizarding World and to the fans who have dreamed of receiving their Hogwarts letter for years.
A Dream Come True for Harry Potter Fans
The greatest achievement of Hogwarts Legacy is how authentically it captures the magic of the universe created by J.K. Rowling. From the moment you arrive at Hogwarts, it's clear that an incredible amount of care and attention has gone into recreating this world. Every corridor, classroom, staircase, portrait, and hidden corner feels as though it belongs in the books and films that millions of fans grew up with. The game understands something very important: sometimes simply being in Hogwarts is enough to make fans smile. And thankfully, it delivers that feeling constantly.
A Hogwarts Worth Getting Lost In
Without a doubt, Hogwarts Castle is the true star of the game. I've spent countless hours exploring its halls, discovering secret passages, opening hidden rooms, and admiring the incredible level of detail present throughout the entire castle. What impressed me most is that Hogwarts doesn't feel like a backdrop for the adventure—it feels alive. Every area has its own identity, atmosphere, and sense of history. Even after dozens of hours, I still found myself wandering through the castle simply because I enjoyed being there.
The Magic Doesn't Stop at the Castle Gates
As spectacular as Hogwarts is, the surrounding world deserves just as much praise. The areas outside the castle are beautiful, diverse, and filled with activities, secrets, creatures, and locations waiting to be discovered. Flying across the countryside, visiting familiar places, and uncovering hidden corners of the Wizarding World constantly reminded me why this universe has remained so beloved for decades. The world feels expansive without losing its magical charm.
Combat, Exploration, and Progression
The gameplay succeeds in making the player feel like a powerful witch or wizard. Spell combinations, magical abilities, exploration mechanics, and character progression all work together to create an experience that remains enjoyable throughout the entire adventure. One of my favorite aspects was the freedom the game offers. Whether focusing on the main story, completing side activities, collecting secrets, or simply exploring, there was always something interesting to do. The result is an open world that encourages curiosity and rewards exploration.
A World Built with Passion
What stood out to me most was the passion visible in every aspect of the project. Hogwarts Legacy never feels like a simple licensed game created to capitalize on a popular franchise. Instead, it feels like a project developed by people who genuinely understand why fans love this world. The countless references, environmental details, magical creatures, spells, and iconic locations all contribute to making the experience feel authentic. You can tell that the developers wanted players to feel like they belonged in this universe.
A Journey Worth Completing
Completing Hogwarts Legacy 100% required dozens of hours, but it never felt like a chore. On the contrary, many of the collectibles, activities, and optional objectives provided additional reasons to continue exploring a world I genuinely enjoyed spending time in. When a game makes you want to see and do everything it has to offer, that's usually a sign that it has done something right.
Final Verdict
Hogwarts Legacy is, in my opinion, the best game ever created within the Wizarding World. It captures the magic, wonder, and sense of discovery that made so many people fall in love with Harry Potter in the first place. Between its beautiful world, faithful atmosphere, enjoyable gameplay, and extraordinary recreation of Hogwarts itself, it delivers an experience that every fan should try. If you've ever dreamed of attending Hogwarts, exploring its secrets, and living your own magical adventure, Hogwarts Legacy comes remarkably close to making that dream a reality.
this combat is really fun but it's literally like any other triple a game LOL i would not pay full price for this
I remember being very hyped about this game because I really wanted a Harry Potter RPG that would cover every single year at Hogwarts, just imagine the potential here. Unfortunately, the trailers were simply too good to be true and I was right to be cautious before buying. Hogwarts Legacy is a prime example of "look, don't touch" because, while the world is extremely pretty and full of hidden details, it gets very old very quickly when you see the same animation almost every single time you visit that specific area. You cannot interact with anything, not the objects and certainly not students and professors, everything is extremely static while the game wants you to believe otherwise. There is no consequences to your actions, nobody reacts to anything you do, and if they do then it's just one line before they continue on their path. The best example of this is when you're confronted with a choice to whether or not you want to learn dark magic. It doesn't make a difference, nobody cares. You can cast an Avada Kedavra in the hallways of Hogwarts and nobody cares. The story is extremely forgettable and completely fools you into believing you get to experience Hogwarts, that is not the case at all. You start as a last year student that has never attended Hogwarts before yet somehow knows all the relevant magic to attend the courses just like every other student, you are the chosen one and everything revolves around you. The main villain is extremely forgettable, the story quests are beyond boring, the only mildly interesting quests are from Sebastian while everyone else is completely one-dimensional. The combat is equally as forgettable because it's all button mashing. The RPG aspects are equally as forgettable, this game barely counts as RPG. I repeat: the world itself is very beautiful, Hogwarts is gorgeous to visit and stroll around. But that's all there is to this game, it's wide as the ocean but deep as a puddle.
I played this on PS5 and was very excited to give it a try and my new beefy rig. I was extremely disappointed with how poorly this game is optimized. I have high end PC and I was getting huge stutters anytime I went into the green area in the middle of the castle, or went into Hogsmeade. I tried everything, from lowering the graphics to capping the FPS to try and alleviate these stutters with no luck. Be aware if you played this on console and are jumping in again on PC! It does not run nearly as well due to optimization issues!!!
Great game, they really nailed Hogwarts and its surrounding world, just beautiful.
