The only disadvantages compared to the "remastered" version, the lack of achievements. In every other aspects this game has higher quality
old but gold, this is MUCH better than the so called "remastered" version made with UE5 slop. it has high quality in every way possible and is super fun unlike the remastered version.
MAKE THE GOTY DELUXE PURCHASABLE BUY ITSELF! I CANT EVEN GET IT BECAUSE I ALREADY OWN THE GOTY NON-DELUXE EDITION AND IT WONT LET ME PURCHASE IT "AGAIN".
masterpiece where a majestic, orchestral symphony plays while a potato-faced NPC aggressively tells you about mudcrabs, spins in a circle, and floats into the ceiling, ah so peak
I had played the remastered version of Oblivion and I liked it. It used to run well for me about a year ago, but I had gotten it through a subscription, so I lost access to it. A few days ago, I bought the 2009 version of the game, and honestly, I liked this version even more compared to that one. At first, I thought there might be some problems or issues, but there were none. I didn’t even install any mods—I played the entire vanilla game from start to finish. And man, what a game! I really loved it. I liked the story a lot too—more than Skyrim, actually. Yeah, this game has now become my favorite. It’s a good thing I didn’t buy that remastered version. From what I’ve been hearing these days and the reviews I’ve been watching, people are saying its performance isn’t that good because it’s made on Unreal Engine. And Bethesda isn’t really paying attention to the game—no proper updates or whatever. Whoever is responsible, this version of the game is much better in comparison.
The first elder scrolls game I ever played. I remember getting a copy for the 360 at a Sunday marketplace when I was a kid. Still one of the best RPG's ever made. Sure there are some things about it that have aged like milk but I think it adds charm to it. But overall still a great experience. I always loved getting the fan mauled by mountain lions. Also the best way to play is playing on the easiest setting and just one hitting fools and only taking their pants. PS, my mate has like 40 physical copies of this too because Its his favorite game ever. PSS, I brought like 20 of them copies for him.
I realized I never rated this game, so here I am I have about 400 hours on steam, but I played more than that a long time ago (around 2008 I guess) This game is fire. It has this sweet spot between the complexity and interesting quests of morrowind and the enjoyable gameplay (including fights) of skyrim. It still leaves you the ability to create your own spells (to break the game if you want). I replayed it a few months ago with Maskar's Oblivion Overhaul, making the fights more enjoyable and the game more challenging overall, you can even build your own house wherever you want with it. it was amazing. The only thing I don't like much is the fact that you have to min max your character a bit if you don't want the enemies becoming (much) stronger than you as you level up, but this can be fixed with mods (eg: oblivion XP, set XP gained to X5 and don't train) I especially recommend the dark brotherhood questline. Back when I was a teenager, I thought it was so cool. Now I think the voice acting of Lucien Lachance is hilarious. In both cases it was a blast. I 100% recommend it.
If once you get into the game it's just one blank color, try turning off HDR. If that doesn't work (like it didn't for me), swap shader packages 2 and 19, immediatly fixed my issue.
Better than Skyrim, provided you're playing a character that uses magic. Alot of people think Oblivion's main issue is the obtuse leveling system that makes it difficult to get the maximum amount of attribute points per level, but that's an overstated issue since attributes suck and most of your damage and whatnot comes from skills. The real problem is that pure physical damage sucks, so if you're playing a pure warrior or rogue you simply don't do enough damage to keep up with the enemy scaling. If you accept these problems and just use magic, the game is fantastic. If you avoid magic altogether then you're going to have a bad time unless you turn the difficulty down.
