About
Inspired by the popular comic book series produced by Top Cow Productions, Inc., The Darkness II is an intense first person shooter that delivers a twisted and gripping narrative of tragedy, modern crime drama, and supernatural horror.
Players will be taken down the brutal and personal path of Jackie Estacado, head of a New York crime family and wielder of an ancient and ruthless force of chaos and destruction known as The Darkness.
It’s been two years since Jackie Estacado used The Darkness to kill the men responsible for his girlfriend’s murder. He’s been unable to shake the memory of Jenny’s death since bottling up his supernatural power and now The Darkness wants out. A sudden, unprovoked attack by a mysterious organization known as the Brotherhood heralds the start of a full-scale war and opens the door for The Darkness to reemerge, setting Jackie on a journey to hell and worse.
4-Player Co-op Campaign - Play as one of four unique characters each capable of wielding weapons infused with Darkness powers.
Quad-Wielding Chaos - Slash, grab, and throw objects and enemies with the Demon Arms while simultaneously firing two weapons, adding a new dimension to the FPS category.
Harness an Unstoppable Power - Master the Demon Arms and summon the powers of The Darkness for even more explosive gameplay.
Kill the Lights - The vicious powers of The Darkness manifest only in the shadows so use the environment to your advantage and watch out for enemies who will use light as a weapon.
Intense and Personal Journey - Experience a dark, twisted and gripping story written exclusively for the game by acclaimed comic book author Paul Jenkins whose credits also include The Incredible Hulk, Wolverine, and the original The Darkness game.
Distinctive Graphic-Noir Style - Graphic novel shading and color combined with the dramatic lighting of film noir pays tribute to the source material and brings the pages of the comic series to life. Inspired by the popular comic book series created by Top Cow.

"EMBRACE ME, JACKIE" -Darkness (I love when it whispers dirty things into my ear......)
Although the groundwork had been laid for a third game, it was a game that wouldn’t see a sequel due to poor sales. I played it anyway. My rating for it is 7.0 out of 10. As for my thoughts: + I was pleased they decided to add a HUD, which wasn’t in the first game. We had no idea what we were doing, did we? We had no clue how many bullets were left or anything like that. + I loved that they gave the Darklings a proper character rather than just multiplying them. I really liked the character too. A proper little blighter. + The Demon Handler actually works properly now. Grab a guy, slice him up, tear him apart, and so on… It was completely useless in the first game. + The variety of weapons was as good as I’d hoped. I really liked the weapons in the final section too. I wish I could have played more with those weapons. + The abilities were genuinely brilliant. From Swarm right through to gaining armour in the dark, it left a really nice impression on me. + The map designs were lovely; I absolutely loved the environmental design. It wasn’t as empty and vast as before. But; - They’ve ruined the atmosphere of the first game. They’ve taken Jackie’s depressive, ‘rat face’ vibe and turned it into a game entirely focused on action. Never mind that, they’ve made the graphics identical to Borderlands, so the game’s unique character has been lost. - Although the story is good, they’ve rushed everything together in a hurry. That’s why they’ve kept the game so short. Speaking of the story, how did the plot jump from ‘Grandad’ to ‘Dad’ like that? There were weapons we found in the first game. Where did they go? What about the Darkness—wasn’t that under our control? They’ve basically ignored that part entirely. - Although the map design is good, fighting in a colourful area didn’t really appeal to me because it lacked the gloomy atmosphere of the first game. - To be honest, I was expecting a nuance like the phone / numbers thing from the first game. - Even though we played a semi-open world game in The Darkness, I was annoyed that they switched to a linear game. - I haven’t read the comic, so I don’t know, but the hospital scenes were completely unnecessary. That area could have been presented in a completely different way. I would have loved it if it weren’t a sequel to The Darkness. But whilst they’ve improved the general gameplay compared to the first game, the story and continuity were very problematic. Give it a go anyway :)
P. S. If you have difficulties in the walktrough, this guide will be very useful: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3561496240
BOO IM DUDE IN DARK BOO SCARE ME!!
Most likely, this opinion will be in the minority, but The Darkness II is a super bland, run-of-the-mill game. The hand-drawn 'pencil' style looks okay for the first couple of hours, but it gets old fast. As for the touted brutality, it’s honestly not impressive. Sure, you can flamboyantly carve enemies into pieces, but that’s about it. The guns feel plastic: in a game about demons and dismemberment, you’d expect at least some exploding heads, but the firearms just deal damage with almost no visual impact. You can blow through the whole game in 4–5 hours, and the story is short and totally bonkers. To stretch the playtime, the developers make you sit through boring NPC chatter from characters you see for the first and last time, and collect random relics for upgrade points. The levels themselves are just a bunch of corridor arenas, with clunky dialogues in between and the occasional mini boss fight. The idea of a 'reverse Alan Wake', where you have to destroy sources of light, sounds cool on paper. In practice, the game constantly throws you into ridiculous situations: you get trapped in a ring of streetlights so you can’t see a damn thing, and a bunch of dummy enemies with shields and armor swarm you. In the end, you can’t use either the claws stuck in your body or the weapons, and you just keep dying while hearing the same lines from the Darkness over and over when you respawn. You think you’re this monstrous badass, but actually... it’s just a parody of mafia-style "coolness." The PC side of things is a total mess. Controlling the claws by holding the mouse wheel and choosing a direction is insanely awkward. There are no cloud saves or cards, and the attempts at psychological depth with the hospital levels and Jenny just feel completely pointless.
Verdict:
So yeah, if you skip this game, you’re not missing anything. [i] P. S. 2x. Did you like the review or my profile? Drop a Steam reward for the review.
Great short 7th gen FPS game with an interesting story and satisfying gunplay. Worth playing.
The fact we never got a sequel to this game is so sad. The Darkness 2 is incredibly fun and has an addictive gameplay loop. The story is even pretty solid and the twist at the end may be a bit obvious but it still hits. I DEMAND THE DARKNESS 3!!
An amazing underrated game, unique gameplay, rich telling story AND it improves on everything from first game, while Vendetta (CO-OP Mode) is Dead you can still play the whole thing solo, only thing i hated was the unbalance in Don difficulty & the unfortunate cliffhanger ending otherwise its worth your buying.
The Darkness II is basically what happens when a graphic novel and a metal album decide to go on a date and accidentally blow up half the restaurant. The campaign is short but hits hard and the art style still pops. Not the deepest game ever made, but it knows exactly what it wants to be: loud, violent, and weirdly charming. [8/10]
I bought this game on discount for some nostalgia, but honestly it’s been a disappointing experience. The game is full of bugs, especially the Vent mission Even after enabling V-Sync to fix the problem, it still doesn’t work properly. It’s frustrating because I really wanted to enjoy it again, but the technical issues ruin the experience. Hopefully this gets fixed soon.
