I get the nostalgia hype, but honestly the acting is awful not a single character is likeable. besides from all the jump scares keeping you on your toes. its pretty linear game, not a lot of depth or replay value. its okay
"In my restless dreams, I see that town... Silent Hill."
A remake so good, i bought it 3 times so those ♥♥♥♥♥ at Konami can create more :) The game constantly crashes when ray tracing is turned on, buyers beware. But still, that doesn't detract from the recommendation since ray tracing is ass anyway.
It's my first Silent Hill, and what can I say? I love it, but... It was a real pain in the ass to complete this game and finish it 100%. It has so much stutter that every hour or so of gameplay I had to reboot my computer, not just restart the game, because it seems like the game is constantly loading shaders and textures, causing a memory overflow. And I can prove it with the benchmarks I did while playing. I know UE5 is partly to blame, but you also share the responsibility for not optimizing it properly. On the other hand, talking about the game itself, there are some aspects that I didn't like. There is no information about the collectibles you're carrying. Is this item important? How many of them are there? Did I collect them all? Well, you'll only find out once you finish the game. You can't drop items. This isn't bad by itself, but if you want to get different endings in a single playthrough with only one save, then it becomes a problem. The game forces you into a specific ending if you accidentally collect a certain item. So if, for any reason, you discover a new item but you're aiming for the original ending, you can say goodbye to that run because that item will lock you into a different ending. What's the point of New Game+ if you don't keep the same items you had in your previous run? Do I really have to collect everything all over again? There is no indication of whether you're on track for a specific ending or not. Whether you're going for the Maria ending, In Water, or Leave, you never know if you're doing the right things, especially for the Maria ending. Bloober Team has a serious obsession with long hallways. They seem to think that the longer they are, the scarier they become, but they're just annoying. You can see this not only in this game but also in Layers of Fear. I swear there are so many long sections where all I could think was, "When is this finally going to end so the story can continue?" Despite all of that, it has some really great moments. The things I liked: Angela's story is incredibly emotional, and just by watching her expressions and her scenes, I was able to understand everything she had been through. The puzzles are really good. I don't know if they're the same as in the original game, but many of them are well designed, and some actually took me a while to solve. Some scary moments, like Toluca Prison, do exactly what a horror game should. Some environments and characters do a great job of immersing you in the narrative. I really liked this game, to the point that it made me a fan of the series. But sadly, I can't recommend this version because the stutter makes it almost unplayable and will probably just frustrate you. If you're interested in the story, I'd say play Silent Hill 2 Enhanced Edition, buy a PS5 to play it there, or just try to speedrun this version, because it seems like the less you explore, the less stutter you get. So, until they fix the stuttering issues, I have to give it a negative review.
First of all, this game has such an oppressive atmosphere, they did such a great job with it. Terrifying all around, first playthrough got some screams out of me. Combat jank is here and there, as expected from a Silent Hill game. It is a highly replayable experience despite the game length, doubling the length of the original game. All endings reached, and it was a smooth experience! A good remake. Honours the original game, it treated the original counterpart with respect, as all things should be. Of course, there are flaws here and there, but the good things that come out of it outweigh the flaws. I recommend it.
