Reviews
This is the most heartbreaking review. I can't believe that I don't recommend this game, because it used to be my favorite. But it is no longer that way. Here's why: I played this game in 2021-23, and it used to be THE BEST VR GAME. But dev team did everything to kill PC community. First - crossplay with console "people", second - they shifted focus on standalone game that runs on headset (basically mobile version that's just bad compared to PC). AND the last nail in the coffin was transition to new UE version that WIPED all custom maps, gamemods and basically all community work that players did. Devs thought that if they give time to modders to update ALL mods to new UE - modders will do it. It was not the case. Nobody wants to do the same job twice, this is just not how it works. The irony of that UE update is that I haven't noticed any changes to the game AT ALL. It's just the same graphics, physics, same everything. The only thing that changed is that we no longer have CUSTOM game mods, which was the most fun part. Now we only have classic CS maps and TTT. And whole bunch of empty servers. Oh! They added SKINS! WOW! Totally worth it. If you are a game dev team member who wants to make a new VR game. Just copy this game and make it slightly better. You will win the market. This game used to have so much potential, but it all went down the drain. I mean, how? It was a NEARLY PERFECT game! Solid 9/10. Best VR game on the market. I mean seriously, if somebody just make the same game, with lobbies and no matchmaking. With focus on community made mods and maps. WOULDN'T EVER break community mods with useless updates. And just focus on PC only, no console and standalone crap. This would be a #1 VR shooter game. Please, we need a new game like this.

pavlov creators, you ruined this game by changing the main way to get mods, you ruined everyones maps they workeds so hard on like lemmys maps, or oasis zombies and tons of other mods that people worked so hard on, its all gone now and what this game once was is now lost, great job devs for completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ your game up, down, sideways and diagonal, should have left it with the steam workshop the way it was and if you can turn it back to the way it was you really really should. this has been my incredibly honest review, 2020 and forward it has become "wreck everyhing" era i swear.
The creators had essentially made Garry's Mod VR. Lots of community maps, gamemodes, etc. It was the only unique thing about this game. They then decided to do crossplay with Playstation VR and ruined the entire modding aspect of this game, which again, was the only thing this game had going for it. Onward was a better shooter (before they also sold out to PSVR) and Contractors offered better gamemodes and weapon customization. All Pavlov had was the community content. I hope Sony gave them a huge payout for the downgrades they performed to make it PSVR compatible, because this game is worthless now. I am beyond surprised that they don't at least provide an option for PC players to revert to the old engine that had all the mod support, because leaving behind this kind of reputation is what kills these smaller studios. A lack of trust will kill the sales of any future games they make.
The game is unable to be run anymore, I think they broke it somehow. The game is completely dead minus about 4 servers that get more than 10 people, and the gameplay has always been awful for this game. The old version of this game with a different engine was fun as hell, included the prison break gamemode, and so many active servers with custom maps and gamemodes and such. They then proceeded to kill this game completely with an engine switch that ruined everything, and the game no longer has ANYTHING. The developers clearly refuse to give a damn, and can stick every dollar they made up their asses and run for Tahiti, because they should be whipped for what they've done. Other than that, the gunplay in this game is incredibly bad, with extremely high recoil, terrible damage, and extreme inaccuracy. The graphics are whatever, the sound effects suck, but the gore is fun. Overall, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME, IT IS PAST ITS PEAK AND IS NOW DEAD. THE DEVS ARE PIECES OF ♥♥♥♥ THAT DON'T DESERVE YOUR MONEY.
Pavlov has massive issues: - The same 10 players that play 24/7. If you join their lobby they will kick you so their friend can join. - Only 1 SND server (due to no players, I wonder why) - No queue. Is the one server full? Better hope you can spam "join" for 10mins to try to get into the 1 server and play for a couple mins before they kick you. - Knives don't work like half the time. - Massive, massive netcode issues. Have a low ping? 90% of the time your shots will hit nothing, other people's shots will obliterate you. 10% of the time the game decides to grant you the same privilege and you'll notice a massive difference. Just do yourself a favor and stay away. This could have been the BF2 of VR but it's become abandonware for 10 players.
Man, this game was my favorite VR game to play. It was one of my first VR experiences ever. I remember playing a lot of TTT (My favorite map for it was Dundermifflin remastered), and I had good memories of the custom prison break game mode. All of that came crashing down when they decided to make the jump to UE5. The prison break gamemode was no more, and my favorite TTT map was never ported. TTT also received various changes that made it worse overall. Performance of the game also suffered since it's UE5. Oculus was kind of broken for some time. On top of all this, the game is now dead. ♥♥♥♥ these devs, and ♥♥♥♥ their micro-transactions.
Game is dead. It's now filled with whiny children, try hards and cheaters. Used to be fun when you could play with people your own age on cool maps. And Vankrupt has now gone the way of every slowly dying studio and has introduced the equivalent of V-Bucks into their game for skins. Not only is that a cheap and deplorable way of trying to keep a game alive, it also takes advantage of those who should not be in charge of their own finances in the first place. Such as again children and those who actually buy skins at all. If I could get a refund I would, it should be steam's policy that any game that's killed by its studio should be required to issue a refund to whoever bought it previous to the killing of said game. I paid for a good game and they have now slaughtered it with a blunt knife in front of me.... despite potentially being laughed at by steam support I am going to request a refund along with a copy of this review. TLDR: Dont buy this dead, boring, vr fortnite knock off game filled with children. Unless you are a pedo in which case you'll probably see this review and jump for joy.
Came back into pavlov after more than a year and immeadiately remembered why exactly i stopped playing it. Awful recoil in guns, absurdly uncomfortable controls, especially for index controllers (something that could be fixed literally years ago), empty lobbies and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of kids when lobbies not dead. Optimization somehow is even worse than it has been before, which is surprising as the game switched to UE5 quite a while ago. Every respawan and every peak behind corner leads to stutter. Ai in game is total trash, cringe for the game in 2025 to have bots to just slowly walk into the direction of the player and make shots once in a couple of seconds. There's TONS of pre-made enemy AI in UE Marketplace. Devs got LAZY. Don't buy it
Pavlov VR is not the same as it once was. I miss when the game was still in its somewhat early stages, before the UI update, removal of Steam Workshop and especially before the upgrade to UE5. Now its a complete stuttery mess no matter what type of (VR) setup you have: Wireless or Wired, turning down graphical settings and changing the resolution, even switching between Windows and Linux. Playing the game back in 2020 felt like its golden era and especially performance-wise. Having a different system back then, with considerably weaker specs (i5 9600+RTX2060), the game ran perfectly without any stutters or random lag spikes. vankrupt pls fix
went from a peak game to an unoptimized mess with microtransations and half of the mods that made the game once great removed
