Best game Capcom ever made. The Wii version is the best and arguably one of the only good uses of forced motion controls. I would sell my soul to the Merchant to buy all of his gear. <3

Best resident evil of all the time!
It's hard to know what to even say about this game, when it's old enough to be able to drink in the US. And it's difficult not to gush about how it's composed of so many disparate components that (mostly) come together in a way that makes the game truly shine in a way that the almost two decades later reboot just falls flat on its face trying to improve on...and then deciding that the way to fix it all is to shovel in micropayments. But, this game genuinely is impressive since its action was such an overwhelming success that it boosted the entire action horror game genre, the hilarious B-movie camp was incredibly effective as a way of breaking up the tension, and the horror was shockingly effective for a game where the protagonist is the baddest dude that's ever lived and is too cool to climb ladders. It genuinely is incredible not only with much passion was poured from direction possible, but how all of that became so much more than then mere sum of its parts. It is still one of the most effective escort quests in gaming. Even old game frustrations like the cutscenes ending with surprise QTEs were effective. RE4 (2023) might have the better atmosphere for the castle and a more detailed story for Luis...but this game is genuinely world class, despite its occasional drawbacks or rare frustrations. It nailed the atmosphere, nailed the camp, nailed the tension, nailed the combat, and is still fun to play to this day. It's cheap as chips on a sale and you should totally buy it. It will take a bit to get used to the tank controls and needing to hold the weapon out to reload it, but it's well worth the brilliant diamond of a game that this is. Before Capcom decides to delist it and have the micropayments laden mediocre mess be the only on-sale RE4. The game entered my top games of all time list back on the Gamecube and still has never left. Can't recommend it enough.
