Probably a great game. But crashes way too much for me to be able to enjoy it.

Must play if you enjoy RPGs and Star Wars, widescreen mod is downright essential but other than that don't bother getting overwhelmed with the expansive and annoying mod installation process Also: Cap your framerate at 60 in the .ini file and enable V-sync unless you want to smash your head against your keyboard every few minutes

20 years later and still holds up (after getting it working on modern PCs). miss the old bioware. hope the remake does justice to this game

is still better than most modern RPGs. The story, characters, and player choices have more depth than many newer games, making it a timeless classic. The controls have definitely aged, and they can feel a bit clunky and frustrating at times. However, once you get used to them, the game easily makes up for it with its incredible story and gameplay. The community is another huge reason to play it. There are amazing mods that improve the graphics, fix bugs, and enhance the overall experience while staying true to the original. If you're a Star Wars or RPG fan, this is an absolute must-play.

This game is so broken that even ultrawide patches dont work. Even after I patched everything, Computer Screen has no visible icons. You need a PHD to patch this game, because it's beyond usable

Goated game

Do not recommend for Steam Deck users: I’ve spent hours trying to get KOTOR running properly on Steam Deck, testing multiple Proton versions, launch options, Mesa overrides, fullscreen fixes, and even GE-Proton builds. The issue isn’t Proton or the Deck, it’s the Aspyr 2015 OpenGL port that Steam distributes. This version doesn’t seem to use DirectX, so DXVK never activates. It relies entirely on OpenGL through Mesa Gallium, which repeatedly crashes with libgallium faults. Older Proton versions won’t launch it, newer ones crash, and the fullscreen implementation causes freezes and input bugs (and still crashes lol). The stable 2003 DirectX build (which does work flawlessly on Deck) is no longer included with this Steam purchase, and the legacy branch isn’t available.

THE GAME DOES NOT WORK. YOU WILL HAVE TO INSTALL 20+ MODS TO GET THE GAME TO RUN WITHOUT CRASHING. THOSE MODS DO NOT EXIST ON MACOS, EVEN USING CLAUDE CODE WITH FABLE 5 I COULD NOT GET THE GAME TO RUN WITHOUT CRASHING. Nothing works. After spending nearly an hour trying to get it to run at any resolution other than 1024x768, I gave up. I didn't make it past the first room without the game crashing. This game is NOT FUNCTIONAL. This is not a review of KOTOR, this is a review of the STEAM version of KOTOR, which is ♥♥♥♥*ng unplayable.
