Loved it. Hard as balls, and I only finished it in normal with 365 deaths recorded. Combat is amazing and varied, enemies do not wait for you to hit them and all attack at the same time so you really need to be on the top of your game to have any chance to beat it. The challenge is fair though as both main characters are OP (Ryu is easy mode). Will probably continue playing to get the challenges and MAYBE try Hard mode, but I don't know if I'm good enough for it, which is okay too. I also loved the music, awesome OST that will be listened again while not playing. Only issues I had were minor nitpicks, and the performance could be better..but it's a team ninja game so it's expected that the PC performance is not it's strongest part.
This game could have been a god-tier master piece but in the end it's just a pretty good game. It does one thing very well and the rest ranges from passable to trash. For reference, I finished the game and DLC in Master Ninja difficulty. + The combat system is fantastic. It's deep, very deep, rewarding, super fast paced, and intense. I've gone through the highest difficulty (base game + DLC) and I feel like I only grasped parts of it. + Lots of weapons with truly unique style and gameplay + The game contains a mountain of different challenges from moderately easy to completely insane. The devs didn't pull their punches and it's refreshing when so often devs don't want to frustrate the casuals. + The bosses are nice. Not great but infinitly better the NG2/NG2B + Cool Character design. + Game runs very well + Only got one bug where I clipped though the floor and ended up in another part of the level but apart from that no issues + Good dubs in Japanese - The locking system is one of the worst I have ever seen. They got all their priorities wrong. You next lock is almost always gonna be the least practical one like it's trying to kill you. It makes the game harder than it should in many places and it's a shame cause it's really an easy fix. - Level design is bland. I don't mean it should be more open or something. I'm fine with corridors for that type of game but it looks generic, repetitive and soulless. - The auto saves are stupidly placed - like just before you get to the point where you buy items and upgrade your skills meaning if you die after than you have to do it again. The game also doesn't tell you when it saves so when you quit you don't now how far back you gonna be. - Story is meh... Rating 7/10. It's sad cause the combat system alone would be a 9/10 or even a 10/10.
As a newcomer to the series, the only thing I knew about Ninja Gaiden was the NES games, and Ryu. I could kind of make sense of the story, and I didn't think too hard about continuity and embraced what this game had to offer. Overall, I had fun. I liked Yakumo and Seori's dynamic, with her playfulness being a contrast to Yakumo's seriousness. And it was a blast seeing Ryu in action, as well as playing as him. You will really feel the power difference when you play as Ryu compared to Yakumo. The gameplay is fantastic, and it's Platinum doing what they do best. The combat has a ton of depth while being easy to learn, which I liked. The environments and set pieces are beautiful, and it gave me a fun time with the picture mode. The boss fights were a ton of fun, and they always keep you on your toes. The soundtrack surprisingly didn't stick with me for the most part, but that's not to say the entire OST is like that. I was disappointed with the DLC being really short. It was neat seeing Yakumo and Ryu help each other out, but that's about it. I was recommended this game by a professor of mine, and I can see why they liked it! I highly recommend this game, but I would wait for another sale.

In retrospect Cory Barlog is a coward for not making you play the first half of God of War (2018) as Atreus and the 2nd half as Kratos, but backwards. Hats off to you Mr.Yuji Nakano-san, and arigato.
