My Quick Review of the Spider-Man Trilogy Spider-Man 1 (My No. 2 Spot): The first game gave me that ultimate gaming excitement because everything was fresh and I didn't know what to expect. The narrative pacing was perfect, and the ending was an absolute masterpiece. Having to go through a high-stakes boss rush against the entire Sinister Six felt completely earned and made the emotional payoff hit so hard. Miles Morales (My No. 1 Spot): Miles Morales is easily my favorite because it brought something totally unique. It shifted the paradigm by adding a distinct cultural identity, awesome music, and a winter Harlem aesthetic that gave it so much style. From a mechanical standpoint, the combat had way more juice on it. Trading Peter's basic gadgets for Miles' flashy, bio-electric Venom powers and camo made the gameplay loop feel incredibly fast, kinetic, and satisfying. Spider-Man 2 (The Disappointment): On paper, I should have loved Spider-Man 2. I am a massive Venom nerd—I collect the comics, toys, and etc. But playing it honestly felt kind of boring. By splitting the spotlight between Peter and Miles, the game diluted that localized, stylized vibe that made Miles' game so special. Venom's entire arc felt super rushed compared to the slow-burn breakdown of Doc Ock in the first game. Even with cool features like Web Wings and a bigger map, the open-world loop suffered from fatigue, and it just failed to give me that same excitement. Final Conclusion: When you look at the entire Insomniac trilogy as a whole, it is still one of the best superhero sagas ever made, but it definitely peaks in the middle. Spider-Man 1 built the perfect emotional foundation, and Miles Morales perfected the mechanical gameplay loop with pure style and juice. Unfortunately, Spider-Man 2 proves that bigger isn't always better, as the rushed narrative and open-world fatigue kept it from reaching its full potential. I’m really hoping Spider-Man 3 changes things up, fixes the pacing, and gives us that incredible punch of excitement we’ve been missing! 💥🥊
