In the late 13th century, the Mongol empire has laid waste to entire nations along their campaign to conquer the East. Tsushima Island is all that stands between mainland Japan and a massive Mongol invasion fleet led by the ruthless and cunning general, Khotun Khan.
As the island burns in the wake of the first wave of the Mongol assault, courageous samurai warrior Jin Sakai stands resolute. As one of the last surviving members of his clan, Jin is resolved to do whatever it takes, at any cost, to protect his people and reclaim his home. He must set aside the traditions that have shaped him as a warrior to forge a new path, the path of the Ghost, and wage an unconventional war for the freedom of Tsushima.

I played this game while in a PTSD treatment program from being overseas a very long time ago. Playing this during that time, without internet and distractions allowed me to deeply connect with Jin Sakai. His rigid way of thinking and the story of sacrifice and pain really resonated with me. I will not post spoilers but I can say that for a Samurai to change so much in a story (even if it is fictional) was very essential to me getting better and understanding myself and others a little more clearly. It literally changed my perspective and view on life playing this game. I cannot recommend it enough, and I don't even really play single player games, let alone 100% their single player portions. 10/10 would revisit this game for the first time again.

Great game, but please, do not pay any money to Sony after they decided to pull the rug out from under PC players. You should play this game, great game, but find it for free. Paying money for this game is actually a bad idea unless Sony re-dedicates to PC releases.
Ghost of Tsushima - A Masterful Blend of Beauty and Brutality! Ghost of Tsushima is an unforgettable experience. The visuals are breathtaking, painting a stunning portrait of feudal Japan. The combat is fluid and deeply rewarding, demanding skill and strategy. Beyond the action, the story is a powerful tale of honor, sacrifice, and the burden of protecting one's homeland. While the pace is deliberate, it allows for a true immersion in the world and its characters. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates artistry, engaging gameplay, and a compelling narrative. A true masterpiece! :)
Yes I have only played this game for 3 hours, I'm not writing this review to only talk about the game, which btw it is brilliant. This review is for people with lower end pc's or like 4gbvram like me. I was doubtful to buy the game with 4gb vram, but in the end, with mostly medium settings, and framegen, the game runs fine. Framegen kinda messes a few things up like fire embers and sometimes trees but it is really useful, it doesn't bother me enough to stop me from playing the game. So if you have 4gb vram, don't stop that from letting you try the game, the graphics look even in 2026 and you can always refund the game if you have less than 2 hours played and within 14 days of purchase. The game is similar to botw/totk, if you like those games, you will definitely like this too. Summary/TLDR?: Good game even with 4gb vram, game runs fine with medium(ish) settings. Graphics look good even in 2026, gameplay is smooth and plays well, lots to do and explore. Lots of progression, and difficulty changes in reruns allows replayability (not that I have finished the game yet, I just wanted to talk about 4gb vram issue others like myself may have).
---{ Graphics }--- ☐ You need a NASA supercomputer ☑ Beautiful (Art direction carries hard) ☐ Good ☐ Potato ---{ Gameplay }--- ☑ Addictive ☐ Very good ☐ It's just gameplay ☐ Staring at walls is better ---{ Difficulty }--- ☐ Just press 'W' ☐ Easy ☑ Easy to learn / Hard to master ☐ Dark Souls ---{ PC Optimization }--- ☑ Perfection (Nixxes nailed the port) ☐ Good ☐ Will crash occasionally ☐ Cyberpunk on release day Final Thoughts: One of the best single-player experiences Sony has ever brought to PC. The combat loop is amazing, the story is incredibly emotional, and it runs flawlessly.
amazing game with a great story and combat. my only complaint is that some dialogues can't be skipped..
Ghost of Tsushima is one of the best game I have ever played my top 5. Its absolute must play. The world, the characters, cut scenes and the story are just cinema. Combat is amazing, Yuna 🤌🏻, Lord Shimura all the characters are well written. The battles are just so good. Side quest is amazing. 10/10 A must play. "The Ghost has no limits, and that's what makes him dangerous". Uff🔥
Ghost of Tsushima is ....ah.... many things. A lot of those things are good or even amazing , some not so much. Visually this game is a complete masterpiece. Anyone and everyone who worked on how this game looks is a master of their craft indeed. It is one of THOSE games there you just stop every other minute and have to launch photo mode and take same pictures because it just looks too good not to. Big win there. Sound department is no slouch as well. Things sound ... alive? I mean soundscape in general just drags you even further into the world and cements whole immersion. Music while minimalist is exactly what it is supposed to be and it is a right way to go about it. Serene, minimalist and sparse enough to just melt into the whole experience. A big plus. Controls, menus are pleasant , functional. Gameplay is smooth and responsive, on technical side everything is top notch. Game does run pretty well on my rig ( specs will be included ) so a decent PC port . Nothing less to expect here. Yet. Yet, if you strip everything down to core game loop it's a bit.. shallow. I'm so sad to say but Ghost of Tsushima is really generic open world game which takes no risks and really doesn't try to innovate or experiment in any way. One could easily remove feudal japan 'skin' and let's say american civil war 'skin' and you would essentially have same game. There's very little to tie this game's story and setting to gameplay. Explore open world map , do exhaustive list of open world busy list , story mission here and story mission there , side quests with uninteresting and no impact story telling , gather materials for linear upgrade path and so on . You have played this game many times . It just had different name and different graphical look. And it is a shame to be frank. With how good this game feels and looks with some novel thoughts, some risks in story telling and gameplay this could have been on the greats imho. I'm also not sure how i feel about whole " we take precise historical time , event and place but then pretty much invent whatever suits us afterwards " afterwards. At very best this is historically inspired Japanese fiction i'd say. Is it a bad thing? Depends on what you expect i guess. So here it is. So much potential wasted in my opinion but just making what everyone else is making. A game which could be a classic, a cult hit , but decided to be just another decent open world checklist. It is for everyone to decide individually if it is a good thing or not.
