Welp i was gonna buy this when it was 60 bucks. Never got around to playing any of the spiderman games and daaaammmn i was missing out these are fun as hellll. Loving it very addictive. Got it during the steam summer sale and for 23 bucks or whatever it was WAAAY worth. Even the story is hooking. I will def be grabbing the other ones for sure to continue! Great game overall dont really have anything negative to say! Finished the game. As a not like HUGE spider man fan... Damn this hooked me. Loved it and the story. Amazing cut scenes and action sequences as well overall great game! Just bought the others on steam summer sale excited to dive in and continue!
Great. If you liked Batman Arkham games - it is the same but Spidey. And more modern. Satisfying gameplay, good story. Couple flaws: to get 100% achievements you are forced to play game twice; some challenges take too much time to finish them all (but if you are interested in story only - not a flaw for you).
Marvel's Spider-Man is a fantastic game all around, it gives an amazing Spider-Man story in its campaign where you face off against some of his most iconic super villains, it has a good Peter and MJ dynamic, Fun quips and great character development. The open world New York City is really well made offering a fully immersive experience when swinging around, (the swinging mechanics are so good, and you could easily just boot this game up and swing around for a while.) The collectables and side missions are fun and interesting, And the combat is good as well, offering multiple ways to take down bad guys, with mid air combat, spider gadgets, inter-weiving combos and finishers. This game is a fantastic experience and its super accessible for anybody who wants to try it, I really recommend this one!
Reviewing (mostly) every game (or DLC) in my library, part 637: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆☆ (8/10) Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered is just ... it's just pure fun. Like, the game is eager and upfront about wanting the player to feel like a superhero and be cool and have fun. Oh, to be young again. I mean, I could honestly leave the review at that. But seriously, I never saw the appeal of Spider-Man (also, I thought it was "Spiderman?"). Peter Parker seemed like a nice kid, but he doesn't have the aura of Batman or Superman. His powers also seemed weak—shooting webs and gymnastics can't hold a candle to Batman's fancy technology or Superman's literal superpowers. But I get it, now! I do! There's a sense of limitless joy when playing the game. The gameplay is addictive and reminiscent of the Arkham series; the story and cast are surprisingly likeable; and the game is great on Deck. I do have to point out, however, the repetitive nature of the game. The map is filled with Ubisoft-style challenges that require multiple stages of completion. The side content is also noticeably weak, and though I had a blast, I'm going to deem Spider-Man completed at around the 70% mark.
Pros:
✅ Action. The combat is clearly inspired by the Batman games, but it carves out its own identity through Spider-Man's gadgets, web abilities, and incredible mobility. It's a pretty familiar formula: fast, fluid fights that reward combos. Yet, you're encouraged to mix attacks, gadgets, air combos, and environmental takedowns instead of relying on a single strategy. Usually, the physical portion in games has the most love devoted to it, but I honestly relied on Spidey's gadgets half the time—they're STRONG. ✅ Traversal. I usually hate the "empty air" nature of travelling in open-world games. Just get me to my location, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I only enjoyed Dying Light and Batman's traversal because of the importance of XP, side content, or mechanics. But Spidey's web-slinging through New York City never stopped being entertaining! I feel like there's some hidden mechanics going on wrt speed, height, location, freedom, and momentum. There's a difference between crawling up a wall or slinging around a corner or being catapulted into the air. Fast travel almost feels unnecessary because getting there is half the fun. ✅ Surprisingly likeable cast. I'm not at all familiar with the original content material, so I wasn't expecting to become invested in the characters, but Peter, MJ, Miles, Aunt May, Otto, and the supporting cast all won me over. I was particularly impressed with Otto. In the game, he seems like such a sweet old dude, but his descent into becoming a familiar villain was a neat callback. The writing strikes a nice balance between lighthearted humor and emotional moments too. There's a strong focus on relationships (Peter/MJ; Peter/Miles), grief (Peter; Aunt May; Miles), and justice. The story was surprisingly good, too! ✅ DLCs are included. Having The City That Never Sleeps bundled into the remastered version is a nice bonus and adds several more hours of content without needing additional purchases. ✅ Excellent Steam Deck performance. Controls feel smooth, performance is a solid 45 FPS, and the game translates remarkably well to handheld play.
Cons:
🟥 Repetitive open-world content. Once the novelty begins to wear off, the map starts to resemble the typical Ubisoft formula. Enemy bases, research stations, radio stations, backpacks, landmarks, crimes, challenges—most activities are enjoyable individually, but there are simply too many of them. I did enjoy the radio stations, landmarks, and backpacks, but I was not a fan of the rest. The game felt bloated because there would always be a new activity or situation that you would need to go through 10 to 30 icons for a small reward. The fact that the city isn't diverse enough doesn't help. I have around 37.9 hours (roughly 37 hours and 54 minutes) on record for this game on Steam. I have beaten the main campaign twice—both times on the hardest difficulties available (Spectacular on the first run, Ultimate on the New Game+ run). My goal was to 100% the achievements (sitting at 60/78), but a game-breaking bug forced me to abandon that goal and delete the game for now. Despite the technical frustrations, it remains one of my favorite games. Story and Pacing The main story is incredibly good and hits hard, especially toward the ending. Even if you see certain plot beats coming, Peter’s raw reaction to the final conflict makes it genuinely emotional. It is a well-written narrative that holds up, though on my second playthrough, I turned the game audio to zero, blasted my own Spotify music, and skipped every cutscene just to focus on the gameplay loop. The only major narrative drag comes from the MJ and Miles Morales stealth missions in the base game. They are awful, boring, and completely kill the pacing because they do not let you feel like Spider-Man. Gameplay, Difficulty, and Modding The combat is awesome, satisfying, and fluid, but do not expect a brutal challenge. Even on Ultimate difficulty, the game is not that hard. It is absolutely nothing like a hardcore Call of Duty campaign where you get instantly blown away. If someone has never played this game before, they could easily start on the highest available base difficulty and finish it without any real struggle. Where the gameplay truly shines is the web-swinging. If you do not drive in real life but want that exact therapeutic feeling of driving at night with your music on, this game gives you that. You can easily just load it up to chill, put on some music, and swing around the city. Note on Mods: I played this with heavy gameplay and visual mods, and they elevated the experience 10,000 times over. It makes an already great game feel completely incredible. The DLC and Game-Breaking Bug This was supposed to be my first time ever playing the DLCs, so I cannot review their full content. I started The Heist DLC, and I actually really enjoyed the dynamics between Black Cat, Peter, and MJ. Unfortunately, I hit a hard stop. During the first MJ stealth mission in the DLC, the exact moment I knock out the first enemy and try to progress, the game crashes to desktop instantly. There is no workaround. It completely blocked my progression, ruined my 100% run, and forced me to uninstall the game. Even before this specific spot, the game was crashing multiple times a day, which was incredibly frustrating. Final Thoughts If I am rating just the core experience, this is a masterpiece 9/10 game. If I have to factor in the constant crashes and the literal game-breaking DLC bug, it drops to a 7.5/10. Ultimately, it still gets a Thumbs Up. Whether you are a hardcore gamer, a casual player who usually only plays FIFA or Call of Duty, or just someone looking for a great adventure to chill out with, anyone can enjoy this. It is a fantastic ride—just be warned that the technical side might cut your journey short. Score: 9/10 (Base Game) / 7.5/10 (Technical state) Recommendation: Buy it, play the main story, mod it, and enjoy the swing.
This remastered version of Insomniac Games 2018 PS4 hit Spider-Man sees you taking control of the iconic superhero in New York City facing many familiar and beloved foes in an action packed adventure. In what might just be one of the best Spider-Man games to date, players will tackle enemies thanks to it's fast paced combat, wonderfully freeing traversal and varied tasks scattered through the city. Various gadgets can be unlocked to make combat even more creative and there's a large selection of iconic Spider-Man suits to obtain. Visually the game is a delight for the most part, though some areas do show a bit of age in the distant cityscapes and textures of NPC's. It should also be noted that I came across 3-4 rather frustrated bugs and crashes that did disrupt my playthrough, but it doesn't stop me recommending Spider-Man for anyone looking for a fun and action packed superhero adventure.
This is like childhood dreams come true: Playing as Spider-Man fighting some iconic villains in cinematic showdown. To be honest, i didn't expect they put that many villains in one game. Love the main story and the DLC. The combat mechanics are delightful. Every time i use those gadgets, they are really satisfying. The game offer a lot of side activities & a freedom to explore New York City. The game is nearly perfect. The only thing that annoys me is the MJ part.
probably the best superhero game. tons of collectibles. great story, crazy good gameplay and combat
This is game is so much fun, and swinging through the city is incredibly satisfying. Story-wise, it's what you would expect from Marvel. The story won't stay with me for years, but it was entertaining throughout. Gameplay-wise, I enjoyed it, especially for my first playthrough. However, once I started a second playthrough to earn the platinum trophy, as a bit of a platinum addict, the gameplay loop started to feel repetitive and became somewhat boring. If you decide to complete the game 100% and not just the main story, be aware that you'll be playing the same side missions and repeating the same tasks again and again.
