Alright so to start I want to say I have 100% the first Spider-Man on PS4 + All DLC and have now 100% this. Overall it's a solid game, I enjoyed the story for the most part although it did feel like it lost it's momentum during the final act, however that didn't affect my enjoyment of it too much. It's a great looking game, run's very well during actual gameplay but does occasionally suffer from texture issues and frame drops during cutscenes but you can easily fix that by disabling Generative Frames in settings and changing your Upscale Method. I enjoyed the look of the majority of Peter's outfits but I would've liked if they included Kaine Parker's black and red Scarlet Spider suit since they included the other two designs, I however didn't like the vast majority of Miles' outfits, a lot of them were overdesigned and had very odd colour choices, some were quite cool though, just not many that I felt contrasted well with Peter's suits. The combat is a bit different from the first mixing both suit and web based attacks instead of the selection of 8 web types like the first, I honestly think it was good choice as I didn't use half the gadgets in the first game. My only real issues with the game are: 1) It left multiple story arcs unfinished but i also do understand that is because they shifted focus to the development of Wolverine and allows more for the final installment of Spider-Man, but it is still disappointing as there were 3 DLCs for the first game. 2) In comparison to the first game the world is very empty with very few activities to do and them being restricted to a certain character 90% of the time. 3) I was able to 100% this game in less than 60 hours, for a game that costs almost $100AUD I expected more content. TLDR; Pros: - Good graphics - Fun gameplay/fluid movement - Decent story Cons: - Has some performance issues, was running everything on max settings fine outside of the cutscene issue I previous addressed - While the story is good, it does leave something to be desired - Some cutscenes are ridiculously long - Miles' dresses himself like a toddler if you let them pick their own clothes and put them on by themselves - Not worth the price, wait for a sale 8/10 as a game on its own but a 6.5/10 as a sequel

Ngl I one hundred percented this game and it was pure agony. I wanted to love this game, and terrible port aside I really dont think theres much here. The story goes nowhere with random plot twists and the gameplay feels boring here. The addition of abilities means you can kinda just breeze through the enemies spamming them. The original had fun gadgets that enhanced a tailored strategy, they shouldnt just be the win con. Overall the game drags and gets boring so fast, the swinging is the only real positive

I was never a fan of Insomniacs first Spider-Man game but hoped the hate for this sequel was overblown, it wasn't and it makes me sad that this is the studio that has the keys to making solo Spider-Man games for the foreseeable future, RIP getting good Spidey games. Once I get the last achievement for beating NG+ I am never touching this game ever again, this game makes the first seem good in comparison. -Probably some of the worst missions I have ever seen in a video game -So much walking and talking my god -Mostly awful side content, *some* are fine -Cant skip boring puzzle segments like you could in the first game -Awful writing from beginning to end, somehow worse than the first -Probably the worst version of Venom ever made -Spider-men still do that dumb hunched over walk when in combat mode, it just looks stupid -Every boss fight is like 3 phases long, I'm pretty sure there's some that are 4, that's way too long -Not so much a negative but it is funny to note that the entire reason the game even happens is because a random henchman of Kraven said "Hey why don't you hunt in NYC" at the start -Story paints Peter as being super evil for using the suit but he doesn't do anything that bad? He's a ♥♥♥♥ once, that's it, there's the sewer stuff with MJ I guess but that wasn't even Peter it was the suit -There's this podcaster whose audio plays and she just knows what's going to happen, she hates Peters black suit the instant he gets it saying its bad, that's her whole thing, -Same podcaster talks about how the city banded together and fought back the symbiote invasion, this never happens though, like not a single civilian other than MJ does anything -In fact where is literally anyone during the invasion? Web of Shadows at least gave excuses for it only being a hand full of heroes helping around -The symbiotes fire weakness was taken away despite the fact that this game has an entire enemy faction dedicated to using fire, huh? -Peters symbiote "evil" voice is more funny than it is intimidating -There's a talk where Peter apologizes to Miles's mom for how he acted, he didn't do anything to her though? -Killing off most of the sinister six is certainly a choice that was made -Peter has this strong no kill rule in this game, now I havent read the comics in years and definitely haven't read the modern stuff so idk if its new but last I remember this was never a thing for Pete, he didn't go out of his way to kill but he didn't have a strong code like Batman either -Black-Cat has zero interactions with Peter when he has the black suit, in fact she only interacts with him once and its a phone call, guess they knew people actually liked Felicia so they got her the hell out of the story quick -Doubled down on terrible MJ missions, the game director even admitted to cutting content to make sure the MJ missions were added in, pathetic -Taskmaster is shown on the map of targets but is never actually mentioned or shown in game, which is odd cause he would probably be the best opponent for Kraven due to his skill set, probably more cut content -Missing upgrades from the first game (insta KO on ranged enemies woulda been real nice considering how much of them are in this one and how tanky that specific enemy type is for some reason) -The upgrades that are there are useless, only one that's good is taking away enemy weapons -Suit powers replaced with a set of cooldowns, same with gadgets since I assume it made stealth too easy in the first -There are traversal specific powers you get but even those have a cooldown, why? -Miles does basically nothing for about 80% of his time in the game spending a lot of that time worrying about a college essay, how exciting and totally warrants him being here -Miles other 20% of his story is him coming to terms with Li existing? I guess? He already knew he was locked up but when he sees him he gets all mad and thinks about killing him but of course doesn't. -Miles's is really into music which is taken from Spider-verse, but he makes the worst music known to man in this universe -The drug metaphor of the black suit as well as Peters desperation of needing the black suit to be a better hero is completely thrown out the window since Peter gets the Anti-Venom suit, so all the positives without any of the negatives, how convenient, guess he really does need it to be a better Spider-Man -Peters suit selection is smaller than the first game for some reason, tons of suits from that game do not come back -Most suits have alt colors you can use, too bad they are all ugly and were a waste of development time -DLC suits are ugly as sin -MJs face, lmao -Miles's final suit, lmao -Doesn't even have any story DLC like the first game did, so everything set up in side quests needs to be resolved in the next game instead, woohoo -Game feels more like a glorified tech demo for what the PS5 can do -Tons of cut content that have been found in the files like bosses and destructible environments, but hey at least we got more MJ right? -Stealth seems iffy if it actually wants to work, circles will be green and text says the enemies are safe to take out only for them to not be -Enemies will see you across the room while behind something but will never look up -There's this god awful low FPS animation setting for the Spider-verse suits that constantly turns itself back on whenever you equip one of them, so I just ignored their existence after a certain point rather than turning the setting off each time -Speaking of Spider-verse. they went out of their way to add in collectibles to tie into those movies, your reward for getting them? A cutscene of a character that doesn't even appear in either movie, no idea who that was -On NG+ you need to re-unlock fast travel for every district -On NG+ you still have to redo all the damn walking and talking, no skipping those -There are some cutscenes that are randomly just not skippable -MJ's big plan at the end of the game to solve their money problems and her self inflicted career problem is to start a podcast, lol -Game does this weird thing where if you pause during a cutscene it will play a bit of the audio still going, but then when you unpause the game itself will speed up a bit? -Lighting and reflections seems to freak out randomly -The entire symbiote invasion is just a worse version of Web Of Shadows, which shouldn't be the case since now Knull exists in the comics to pull lore from, they kinda do but not really -When symbiote enemies do show up they are more annoying than anything else -They have the balls to have Cindy Moon show up in an after credits when they cant even properly write 2 spider people but they think they can write 3? HA -It even has less mods than the first game by a wide margin, goes to show how much people like to spend their time on this one
