I can safely say this is one of the best JRPGs. the gameplay is incredibly long, but you’ll never regret diving into it. story is rich and dense, paired with a gameplay that never gets boring. There are so many activities to dive into, and the turn-based combat is easily one of the best. It’s a game that absolutely justifies its premium price tag $$
The gameplay is a huge improvement and the new map brings a breath of fresh air into the franchise. That's pretty much it. The story is mid, many new jobs are kinda bad,the side content constantly interrupts the first half of the game,Kiryu's memoirs are painfully shallow, some story bits really test the player's IQ,side stories follow the same formula, bad DLC practices and so much more. Why the f*ck is Ichiban forced to play Epstein's Island minigame for 30 minutes in the main story? This is probably RGG's last decent game before their downfall.Stranger Than Heaven better not miss. 6.5/10
Huge, goofy game. The biggest one in the series probably. It's like stepping into a theme park where you can enjoy tons of minigames, interactions with your companions, do weird sidequests and it's presented in the most hilarious and random way possible. It also has Animal Crossing tossed in as a bonus. New companions are stronger in terms of personality than companions from previous game, so much that they kinda replaced the old ones. Adachi is still the goat. I don't know how to feel where the series is heading though so I'd say it is better to treat this game as a separate thing, especially after Pirate Yakuza because that one is pure insanity. Story is okay and predictable, I'd even argue that for some reason it is not the appeal of these installments but more of a background goal or a way to unlock new features. Play in moderation because it is easy to get overdosed.
This game is awesome. I dont often review games but this one earned it. I have played a few of the yakuza series and am now hoping to get the complete series to follow the story from the start. I mostly skip cinematic in games, but I watched all of these. The game has everything, rpg, mini games, action, comedy, drama, gets me feeling all the feels but also rolling laughing. I put over 200 hours on this game and am still going. Highly recommended, but not for kids.
especially if its on sale like it was earlier for 16 bucks, game is great if you like silly ♥♥♥♥ and rpgs, and if you don't then go resolve your issues so you can't stop being a pansy and enjoy the good things in life :P
