I know JRPGs are about quirky sidequests, taking your time and enjoying the ride... but this is painful. So they turned the introduction of the original into a full game. Okay, fine, there's enough character and story to flesh out. But did they do that? Nope. They skipped the "story" and "gameplay" stuff and just make everything take as long as possible. Want to go down an elevator? Go across the level and press a button! Oops, that wasn't enough, go back to where you started and press a different button. Now go press a third button. Okay, you made it... now do it three more times for the next elevator. Everything's like this... open a door? It can't just open, you have to go a type into the console. Now walk slowly into someone's house to get a keycard. Done, so walk slowly out again. No, nothing happens while you're in there. I swear you can see the producers demanding the game take longer to beat while refusing to provide the resources to do so in a compelling way. This is a 5 hour game padded into a 40 hour game.
Runs absolutely perfect on my GTX 1080 Ti. 👍 The only thing that would have made it better is if there was ultrawide support. One web search later and I installed "Lyall's FF7RemakeFix" mod and I now get to experience this whole game in ultrawide mode! Definitely worth looking into if you have those black bars on the side of your screen on a wider monitor.
🎭 FF7 Remake is the video game equivalent of watching 1000 One Piece/Naruto filler episodes to get to the good stuff. Its definitely a competent game. Audio/visually its undeniably great. Really cinematic, both in good and bad ways. The combat is okay, but quite easy. You get plenty of items and checkpoints everywhere, making it possible to ignore many of the game mechanics altogether ⏳ Hard difficulty is unlocked only after beating the game, and thats a shame because I doubt many people will replay it after fighting through 40 hours of padded-out content. Its a great example of why its better to have a shorter game that leaves you wanting more than a long game that makes you want it to finally end faster. Especially considering that this section of the original FF7 was only about 4 hours long 👍 That said, I still finished it, as theres plenty of good stuff to carry you through (especially if you are nostalgic for the original). I would give it a mixed review if I could. I would have given it a great review if it were two times shorter and a bit more challenging
Much like CRISIS CORE, FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE is barely a game, neverending cutscenes, medicore combat, enemies with ridiculous amounts of health, mixed with pointless fetch quests and objectives, interact with this computer, squeeze in between these walls, pickup this keycard and insert it into this computer 5 feet away. Most of the game is padding, some sections are actually PAINFUL to go through, which left me feeling like I wasted my time when I closed the game, why would I open it up again after this? There are some story elements that are interesting, but that is all the positives I have on this excruciating video game experience, please play the original first if you're considering this one. But hey, at least every woman in the game wants to have sex with you!
Not a single dull moment in the whole game, i was sleeping on this game for longtime, i am glad i played it. This is my First final fantasy ever, I had no idea what final fantasy or ff vii is. Absolute blast.. Excellent story and combat gameplay. Side missions are just existing to increase playtime , so don't bother doing them. Now looking forward to rebirth. From what i have heard its even longer than this one … hopefully i will complete it before ff revelations arrives.. solid 9/10
Fun gameplay. Terrible dialogue. I struggled to like or enjoy any character outside of Tifa, Cloud, and Barrett. And even Barrett took me awhile to get used to but dear Lord this game suffers from cringe anime dialogue. What were the dub cast thinking with this trash.
Big fan of the old PS1 FF7 game, owned Remake on PS4 originally and felt like to doing a replay to this game after the big Revelation FF sale. I’m not a big fan of the story changes they have done to 7 Remake, but as far as combat and visuals go it’s a great game. The OST is absolutely fantastic too. Suffers from pacing issues and also the typical annoying ‘lets have you walk for several minutes slowly or spend time slowly squeezing through openings to let things load’. This felt so much worse a 2nd playthrough. Exploration is limited but it was expected when this game was first announced. The VR combat is super enjoyable + summon battles. Hope they ramp these up in Revelations. It’s been a fun replay and working to maybe 100% it.
I really wanted to like this game, but the combat is just horrible. You have to use your ATB gauge to cast spells or abilities, otherwise you have to attack with your normal attacks, but the problem is EVERY ENEMY in the game is able to hit you and ignore your attacks and hit you back which will send you flinching, flying away, or dubuffed in some way. You could block or dodge roll away, but blocking mitigates some of the damage and you still get hurt quite a bit, and dodge rolling is a fake mechanic since if an enemy has already targeted you with a named attack, which 90% of all attacks are, you will get hit even if you roll away because you do not have I frames in your dodge roll. All enemies seem to attack constantly, almost like they don't have an ATB to hold them back, and even the smallest enemy can do a lot of damage to you. The aggro system is probably the worst part of the game as you could be playing one character, the enemy charges you, so you swap to a different character and the enemy will change direction and charge at the character you are now controlling. The enemy will only attack the character you are controlling, so characters like Aerith who do do damage, but is primarily a support character (as most if not all of her time will be devoted to healing the un dodge able and most the time unlockable damage that your other characters take) have very small health pools and low defense will constantly be downed in only a couple attacks. You can revive characters, but that requires the ATB gauge to be full, but if you only use a phoenix down, then you need another gauge to heal her more, but then that just goes back to the combat issue from before in a never ending cycle of mediocrity.
I would not recommend this game. The pacing is very bad, The story is confusing. The grinding to lvl up is just so boring. Side quests felt like a chore so I really didn't want to do them, so I skipped so many of them.(so boring) The fact you get Red and he doesn't join the party so you can't fight as him is just criminal. They bloated the game so much and still failed to give the players the most simple things, so weird. (You just can't do Shinra tower and not play as Nanaki like wtf) Boss Battles are so loooooong and not enjoyable at all. (For me the battle system is not fluent, The block is useless, and don't get me started on the "evade" ) The only good thing is the visuals. It was nice to see Midgar in modern graphics, shame it didn't really grasped the original nitty gritty vibe tho. And "exploring" was nothing special as people made it out to be. Stay away from the light.
