i love these games very much however for some reason the seconds games game play has me pulling out hairs before even giving my genes a chance to make me bald. for some ungodly reasons i have shouted and damn near busted my PC over the game play of this game, the first one felt way more fluent and that playing the game was the fun part and not the story. again i love these games but holy ♥♥♥♥ did i enjoy more things about the first one.
Unfortunately FB just doesnt have the same pull as HZD. The game added more and more to every facet but didnt stop to think if the additions were fun or just bloat. They should have focused on refining the best parts of the original game and cutting out the parts that people didnt enjoy. For example: There are SO many weapons now, each with multiple variations - mostly different elemental damage. Which wouldnt be a bad thing the weapons remained viable throughout your journey, but they quickly become obsolete as a new upgraded version is available shortly after finding the last. Ontop of that, the weapons are upgradeable using collectable resources, but dont feel worth it as you will soon be using a new version. This would have been easily solved by collecting base weapons and finding/building better parts to build the weapons up rather than replace them. There are a TON of enemey types (awesome) but the numbers are inflated by having different elements on each enemy type. So youre constantly forced to scan the enemies, go into your inventory, change your kit, and fight the specific enemy, then do it all over again for the next encounter. Ontop of that, the enemies "weak points" can be incredibly difficult to hit, and even when you do, you need to be using the correct weapon and damage type for it to be effective. Bloat, not fun. Melee is still terrible. Its so clunky and feels like a cheap afterthought compaired to the variety of bows. It really is only used for stealth kills or critical hits during knock downs. Both of which lock you in a animation. I was really hoping they would update the melee combat this time around as it was one of the biggest weaknesses of HZD. The skill tree is much bigger now, offering many new abilities. However, most of the abilities feel uneccessary as you rarely encounter situations where they add anything of value. Valor can empower bow shots, which helps, but most other additional skills have no place in the combat. Again, bloat not fun. Lastly, the writing is horrible. Laughably bad at times. Its so dry and thoughtless that its difficult to stay interested in anything, even the main story line, let alone the barrage of pointless sidequests. The world is beautiful though, and it is a crying shame I cant enjoy it. But I simply cannot grit my teeth for 50+ hours for these characters, skills, enemies, and weapons. FB feels like a fantastic car with all of the cheap accessories bolted on rather than a refinement.
i had to get my old save file to get the platinum for hfw and had to do some cleanup. i wudve redone the whole game but my biggest issue with this game is theres just alot and nothing at the same time. storys good and the visuals are stunning. just completing it feels tiring at times. I still prefer the first game tho i just adore it
Was not at all in the slightest worth the price. Rushed. Lacking polish and details. Not cooked with love. Mass produced. Dead. Soulless.
I started Horizon Forbidden West from the beginning even though I had already played part of it before, and I'm really glad I did. The world is absolutely stunning, with incredible graphics, a huge map, and plenty of things to discover. There are lots of side quests, collectibles, machine sites, and activities that make exploration genuinely rewarding. I often found myself getting distracted by exploring instead of following the main story, and I loved that. The combat is another highlight. Every machine has different weak points and attack patterns, so each encounter feels unique. Even though the game offers many different weapon types and ammo, I personally enjoyed using the Hunter Bow for almost everything. Learning enemy weak spots and taking them down with precise shots was extremely satisfying. The story and characters are engaging, and the world is full of interesting lore that makes exploration worthwhile. My only real criticism is that the game sometimes relies too much on climbing and environmental puzzles. Some ruins and climbing sections feel unnecessarily long and can slow down the pacing, especially if you prefer exploration and combat over puzzle-solving. Overall, Horizon Forbidden West is an amazing open-world game with beautiful visuals, fantastic combat, a massive world to explore, and an incredible amount of content. Despite a few pacing issues with climbing and puzzles, I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys exploration, action, and a rich world full of things to discover.
Love this franchise. Sony sucks for removing upcoming titles from PC.
