Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.78/day in the week to Aug 4 → 1.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Since it's long due, I decided to list all mainline Final Fantasy games that I played in descending order into groups of 3 based on how much I enjoy them (keep in mind people, this is just an opinion. So please, don't spam me for thinking I misplaced one of them). Besides the groups, no real order. -The GOATs: IV VI X -The Great ones: V VII IX -The Good ones: I III XII -The OK ones: XIII XV VIII -The terrible ones: II What I like the most about this game is its class system. While classes existed since the 1st game, this one allows you to freely change them throughout gameplay; something that sort of happened in 3, but here it's expanded upon. The classes have skills and ranks, the latter of which allows you to freely use that skill in another class. It's a nice system with my favorite thing being that no class felt really obsolete (ok, maybe thief and ranger) and I had fun with all of them. I also like how you travel the world in this one. It's a nice colorful world and there are so many ways to travel and I enjoy all of them. Also, I kinda like the monster designs in this one. What loses it a bit for me and makes it so that 5 isn't in the GOAT category is the characters and story a bit. I like Galuf a lot and Faris quite enough. The other two people in the party though I'm indifferent about, which isn't very good for the game's protagonists. But the villain suffers as well. Exdeath is...well, he is the stereotypical pure evil saturday-cartoon villain (the type to do something evil and laugh), which a lot of people enjoy, but for better or worse, I don't or rather I dislike if its the only personallity trait. eg. the Joker is pure evil usually, but people love him because he has a distinct personallity.
Also, I hate how his backstory is revealed that Exdeath is a tree
But my biggest critisism for the story is that the game doesn't need a villain. I hope you don't count this as spoiler (seriously, the first one who reads this, tell me to hide it if it is), but early on, you find out that the elemental crystals that essentially hold the world together are breaking because the humans are overusing them. It's a pretty nice environmental-friendly plot that didn't need a specific villain (probably that change would get it into my GOAT category. Not joking) TL;DR: A game you will likely enjoy. It's colorful, with nice creature and character designs, fairly simple and it's quite funny. I'm giving it a 8,1/10

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 23: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Overall I'm enjoying my time with this pixel remaster, but I can't recommend it because it has this horrible issue where the camera stutters while moving with the player. It's incredibly jarring and the only reason I'm enjoying the port is because I'm using a modified dll with an older version of the game to smooth out the camera as best as it can. If it weren't for this one thing, I would easily recommend this port. I do like the qol features in this port, such as the auto battle and ability to change experience, money, and ability points earned each battle, turning encounters off (this trivilaized that basement room with the demon that 1shots your party as you try to get an early elf cape), etc. There's a few things I find questionable tho, like why is page up/down and switching characters on separate keybinds? They worked perfectly fine when combined in earlier versions of the game. Why is the encounter rate so frequent when you get the fire ship in this version? Why do you have to press a button to show item/job descriptions when both that and the stats could easily fit in the same area? Why can't you swap through characters when in the equipment menu if you got there after assigning a new job or ability? These minor things aside, I'd still recommend the game, if it wasn't for the stuttering camera. If this ever gets fixed in a future patch, I'll check my recommendation.
He turned himself into a tiny splinter, waiting for just this moment.
Easily my personal favorite classic FF. I love how...Final Fantasy this game is. Between it being the birthplace of Omega Weapon and Gilgamesh, it had a FF villain so villainously goofy I couldn't help but enjoy him. It definitely felt tropey but thats what I love about it. Great redone sprites and even the revamped music from Uematsu just made it even better. Big recommend.
TL;DR: Final Fantasy V a fun game, rife with mechanical depth, but it is too long for its own good. Poor pacing is a thorn in this game's side throughout. After playing the gem that was Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy V offers a much more lighthearted and simple story. Carrying on the theme of elemental crystals and their withering of their respective element in the world, resulting in void and chaos to encroach, Final Fantasy V plays it pretty safe in this regard. It feels much more apt to call FFV a spiritual sequel, or continuance of FFIII than IV. Square really were jamming with this new job system, to mix and match abilities from different jobs to create very powerful builds is a real treat for player expression. It is the highlight and best bounty that this game offers. The aesthetic and visuals feels very classic Final Fantasy. I really enjoyed the music as well, they went for a more rowdy(?) take on town themes and overworld music, which fits pretty well with the general feel of this game. Insofar as presentation and tone - this game has a lot of comedic and lighthearted moments. Don't get me wrong, there are some emotionally heavy parts, but for the most part, the game itself doesn't take itself too seriously...though, to my taste, I sometimes wish it would. In my recent playthroughs of the Final Fantasy series, it's been illuminating to see the different things they tried and how flexible they are with delivering tone. It's been a journey and I have found that I value a strong story more than most elements in a game like this. The characters, while much more fleshed out than the nobodies they gave us in FFIII and less so than in FFIV fell mostly flat to me. The exception is Faris, Boko and Gilgamesh. I love them. I don't mean to deride this game as bad or anything - it plays like a dream and as mentioned, the job system allows for incredible turn based combat. But the plights of most of the characters, the story itself and the big bad, don't do too much for me. I thought Bartz, Lenna, Galuf and Krile were pretty uninteresting and they did not give me much of a reason to pursue the story for their sake. Much like this review, Final Fantasy V was too long. When I thought things were wrapping up, it just kept going. A slogging pacing accompanied with mostly middling characters, I was not chomping at the bit to continue playing.

This is, hands down, the best Final Fantasy game that has ever been made. "Oh, but what about VII or X? They're so much-" No, sorry, this game beats them all. Why? Because it gives you the tools to use whatever strategy you want (for non-optional bosses), while still having a coherent and, sometimes, touching story. "But in VII and X you can-" Wrong, in VII characters are pegged to archetypes due to their limit breaks and equipment, and although technically characters in X can learn anything on the sphere grid the amount of grinding required for it is dizzying in an already extremely long game. This is also, IN MY OPINION, the last Final Fantasy game that was able to create likable characters that weren't overly melodramatic nor naively sentimental. Sure, Cloud is iconic, but he's not an engaging character. Dramatically pausing does not a developed character make. And, yes, the cast of X is amazing, but my god are they so dire. I actually think that X-2 is a far better game character wise because the characters are having fun, and, yeah, you're wrong if you think otherwise. This is the only Final Fantasy game that I've A) beaten a number of times, and B) bought on just about every console I've ever owned. I'm not even joking. I played a translated copy of FFV back in the day before it was ported over to America- and, just as a side note, the fan translation is 1000% better; X-Fight and X-Magic are leagues better than Dual-Cast and Rapid Fire. I bought this on my defunct PSN account and played it on my Vita. I beat the GBA version with extra, mostly useless, jobs. I bought the steam version that originally released, that is no longer available. And now I have bought and beaten the pixel remaster. This is an EXCELLENT game. But, I'm not naive. There are issues. The major cons of the game are that it's, arguably, the first Final Fantasy game where a lot of stuff is optional or completely missable. Blue Magic? You need a guide. Period. Classes that have skills locked behind weird mechanics? Yep. An entirely missable class that is never really alluded to? Yep. Missable areas? Yep. Missable items? Oh, absolute tons of them. For some this gives the game a replayability factor- and, I agree, somewhat, yet hunting down Blue Magic is a chore, and forgetting to do a thing before the story progresses and locks you out of something is a pain. The next largest con is that not all jobs are created equal. I would argue that EVERY job has a use, either because of a specific passive or skill, but a lot of classes just fall short overall. There were four additional classes added in the GBA version that do not make an appearance here- and for good reason. They weren't that great. The game already has 22 jobs. That is a lot of variety, but it's also a lot of incredibly variable power scaling. Some jobs are literally only useful for their passives, while others their single skill or equipment they can use. The end game is really designed around making your own hybrid job through the starter class or... A completely hidden optional class. And all of this requires... Grinding. Normally I would say this is a con, but this version does have inbuilt boosters to increase the rate you learn abilities. I beat this in 27 hours (and I was underleveld for most of it). I would say, 5-6 of those hours were consciously grinding. I should highlight that it wasn't necessary, but I was going after the option bosses who require very specific tactics to beat... And, yeah, it was just better to master all the classes at that point. This is a remarkably short game. You can beat it in 20~hours- if you know what you're doing; a first time player could stumble through (probably missing a lot of cool stuff) in 25 hours. This is a game that begs to be replayed. Which is why I love it. There is so much choice you can make, which feels far more engaging than most RPGs that peg characters to specific archetypes all while having you wander down scripted linear hallways. Yes, of course, having a specific character archetype that you can build a story around can be good (see FFVII, FFX, etc), but after you've beaten them, why bother to play again? The game will play out the same. There's always a very specific tactic to optimize your gameplay. In FFV it doesn't often feel like that. There's a lot of freedom and in that freedom you can play the game the way you want. Inherently, in games, there is a story that is scripted. Outside of a few games, there isn't a lot of variability here. There is a hallway- you walk through it to the end. It's the mechanics of how you walk down that hallway that make the game interesting. In games like FFVII and FFX how you walk down the hallway does feel rather limiting. In FFV you can literally bounce off the walls all the way down the corridor. And that is why I highly recommend the game. And, also, the story is pretty good with characters that actually have personality.
i like this game a lot
Bora pra platina do Final Fantasy 6!
more detailed than the previous games with much more re-playability and the jobs and ability system isn't the only reason
