Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.44/day in the week to Aug 4 → 1.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 22: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
FFIV is legitimately where Final Fantasy became Final Fantasy. Everything people associate with the series' identity either starts here or gets its first real dry run here, and a lot of it goes straight into FFVI later. FFIV is the game that introduced the ATB system, battles stopped being fully turn based and started running in real time, giving fights actual urgency instead of everyone politely waiting their turn. Every ATB game after this owes its combat pacing to FFIV. It's also historically the first time the series gave every character a fixed, distinct class and identity instead of interchangeable generic party slots, Cecil, Kain, Rydia, Edge, Rosa, Tellah are actual characters with their own arcs, and the party composition keeps shifting throughout the game instead of locking in from hour one. The narrative does a great job at making party members leave thus opening a spot for a new one to join. And the stakes were real for 1991, characters actually die, get maimed, lose their memory, sacrifice themselves. That willingness to let the story hurt is the throughline connecting this to FFVI's much darker, more ambitious narrative. Uematsu's soundtrack here is also where he starts operating on another level, it's genuinely some of his best work and the pixel remaster arrangements are so good sometimes you just stop and enjoy. If you've only played the later, more cinematic entries and assume the older ones are just simple dungeon-crawlers, FFIV is the one that proves otherwise. This is the game where the series figured out what it actually wanted to be, and this thread runs through the main series until at least FFX.
That was my first Final Fantasy game back around 2005-2010 on the GBA, I got stuck 3/4 late into the game as I rarely used guides back then. I am on a journey to 100% all Final Fantasy, maybe up to VI (6)
100% completion review
The story is great, the visuals is good, it's less experimental and more story driven. There are things to farm for 100%, namely rare summons and the notorious pink tail (took me 90mins of miserable farming). There isn't as much of hidden objects and a reasonable amount of locations, it wasn't filled with near useless villages, most chests and items are easy to find, I only had 6 areas I missed some or required to comeback to unlock access to them, no big deal. The bestiary isn't very tedious, it's not "go in these 4 areas very far from anything you would go normally", only a few ones to watch for and I think 4 one time dungeons without ridiculously rare spawns. I don't really know what else to say, it's just, interesting, done well, good pacing, directions, it feels polished and cared for more than the first 3.
If you’re coming from FFIII, this is a massive leap forward. The Pixel Remaster does a fantastic job of honoring the classic while giving it a modern sheen. The sprites are gorgeous and faithful, and the rearranged orchestral soundtrack is amazing. The story is a night-and-day difference from III, way more cinematic and character-driven, even if it does lean hard into the "I must sacrifice myself for my friends!" trope. Exploring the unique dungeons and hunting down all the hidden summons and items is a blast, and it’s cool experiencing the very first ATB system in the series. Plus, it runs flawlessly on a potato, which is always a bonus. The only real drag: going for 100% achievements is a patience-testing grind. Some of those item drop rates are brutal and rely on way too much RNG for my liking. Verdict: A nostalgic masterpiece with a few cheesy story beats and a tedious endgame grind. If you love classic JRPGs, just buy it.
Continuing my journey through the Pixel Remaster series in chronological order, Final Fantasy IV stands out as a monumental leap forward for the franchise—and arguably for the entire JRPG genre. While FF V later perfected the mechanics, FF IV is where the series truly discovered its soul through storytelling. The narrative here is exceptional. Going from the first three entries to this felt like stepping into a grand, sweeping dark fantasy opera. Cecil’s journey of redemption—transitioning from a conflicted Dark Knight serving a ruthless kingdom to a Paladin of light—is beautifully executed and remains one of the most compelling protagonist arcs in classic gaming. The story doesn't shy away from tragedy, sacrifice, or betrayal, yet it constantly maintains an inspiring message of hope and camaraderie. What impressed me most as a long-time fan of the modern entries is how FF IV laid the groundwork for how Final Fantasy tells stories. The fixed character classes work in perfect harmony with the narrative: every party member's combat style is directly tied to who they are as a person. Combined with the introduction of the legendary Active Time Battle (ATB) system, the game feels dynamic, focused, and emotionally charged from start to finish. If you appreciate rich character arcs, dramatic twists, and an iconic soundtrack that elevates every scene, Final Fantasy IV is an absolute must-play. It is a masterpiece of its era that proved video games could deliver unforgettable, cinematic stories.
FF4 is JRPG and Final Fintasy at its finest. The story is to well paced, never felt anything was dragging, the progression was amazing and especially near the end game. Cecil and all the other characters were great, none of the cast felt like over staying their welcome. Everyone adds their own flair to it.
I think the story is kind of weak overall but this is definitely better than 1-3. My only gripe with this game is how often the party changes, it was very frustrating because the game rewards you for grinding your character in the midgame, they get super op and then they never touch your party again. I have to touch on the series more to find out if this is a problem with the game or the series. The party in the end was not my favorite I wish there could have been some substitutions. I did like most of the main cast, Cecil and Kain are badass and my favorites. The only other early FF game i've played at this point is 1 and this was way better and felt way more modern. Having set characters rather than the build your own party felt much more enjoyable. Combat was still pretty simple but this game has some very difficult areas where I had to turn off encounters to keep my sanity. Overall this game doesn't do major numbers for me but it was more enjoyable than not and I appreciate it. -Sent from the SoeDeck™
