awesome campaign, last good zombies
My review only touches on the Campaign mode. As one can expect from the modern COD campaign, the core gameplay mechanics, level design, voice acting and cinematics are all very well done. I particularly enjoyed the setting, which is the 1980s, near the tail-end of the cold war. I found the story to be good, but not amazing. It gives me Black Ops 1 vibes through out, especially near the end. However, unlike past entries, this one doesn’t do a great job at character development. I found it difficult to care about any of the core members of the team, beyond maybe Adler. Even Woods and Mason felt like background characters at times, despite them being main characters from past Black Ops titles. The two possible endings were cool, but both were honestly pretty underwhelming. The evidence board was a cool mechanic, but it feels under utilized. Beyond the two puzzles you use it to complete (which unlock two optional side missions), it really just serves as a reference point for various bits of lore. Veteran difficulty feels easier than in past entries, I had very little trouble throughout. I also felt the game was a bit short, which is corroborated by the average completion time of 5 ½ hours (HLTB). Overall, it’s another fun Call of Duty campaign experience. There are standout moments, a fun gameplay loop and the other usual immersive elements. I just wish they would’ve fleshed it out a bit more as the core idea was solid.
for those that wonder "what call of duty should I get, either you get modern warfare or this one... hell maybe black ops 2
