I would not buy this game, until the 9 broken campaign achievements are fixed. If you would like to support our petition please sign it: https://www.change.org/p/online-petition-for-call-of-duty-vanguard-on-steam. Our protest is 3 years old, because the game was broken on the first day when it was released. The company just likes to make profit without repairing older games. I called them a company but I think is rather an absolute monarchy.
The Campaign is unique, Zombies is more engaging than simply surviving wave after wave, and multiplayer has a wide variety of maps that present their own challenges.
I usually like all the Call ofr Duty games. However i cannot give a good review of this gsme because the game crashes at the start of the game.
an alt-history drug
Nice addition to the franchise, special operations group within WWII, its just excellent. Lady Nightingale is my favourite character *wink *wink.
Kind of a cool idea to have a cast of actual characters, but it's squandered by splitting them up for like 85% of the game. I think Polina's campaign was hands down the best, the personal perspective really works and with the short pre-conflict section to ground the conflict a bit (even if it's obviously just to shoot/destroy every one/thing minutes later). I also really liked the repeated motif/visual of the mannequins depicting pre-war scenes that are ravaged and destroyed through her whole campaign, which climaxes when she's fighting baldy in some sort of abandoned seamstress or dress factory. As it's further damaged you can see the life she might have lived (more traditional 1940's Russian life that's been destroyed/burned away by the Nazis.) I think this is solid storytelling and so much more than I'd expect from Call of Duty. The segment of stealth/guerilla combat in the Pacific is pretty good and threatens to be about something, but feels like it was planned to just be "generic pacific combat" and then at some point it was decided it'd center on a black battalion, where some comments about being disposable are made, but these soldiers don't seem meaningfully more disposable than any other call of duty grunts. The cutscenes also- like idk maybe I'm an ADHD-brained Zoomer but I found they were incredibly long, repetitive, and just never really feels like it's actually moving the story forward, just moving pieces around and setting up the start of the next sequence. So like- yea it's pretty OK. I liked it. It's no Infinite Warfare, but it's got one plotline that's just outright good, and there's some fun with the squad towards the end. I'd play another game with this squad, but like- maybe actually put them in the same missions for more than 2/12 missions.
Having played almost every Call of Duty title I could financially afford, I was left with just Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered and Call of Duty Vanguard. Since I had already played the original 2007 version of Modern Warfare, I decided to go with Vanguard and you know what? It’s really not as bad as people made it out to be. I still remember when David Vangárd... sorry, Call of Duty Vanguard launched alongside Battlefield 2042. Both games were absolute hot garbage at release, leaving players with nowhere to go for a good shooter unless they went back to older titles or different ones. But playing both of them today? They run great without any issues. Aside from that, it’s really nice to see Japan, North Africa, and Stalingrad in the Soviet Union again. We’ve seen these locations in previous WWII Call of Duty games, but now they are wrapped in a modern engine. The gunplay was very good, even if the turrets felt a bit too realistic and the weapon attachments definitely butchered historical accuracy, but that's just how it goes with me and World War II games. The movement is identical to Modern Warfare 2019 or Black Ops Cold War; just perfectly smooth, like butter spread on a bun. From what I gathered, the story is told by four different characters, each sharing their own perspective on events that happened before they got their hands on all the documents. It’s a mix of adventurous and boring, mostly because the characters just sit in a jail cell, and you don’t really know how they met or what their relationship is other than the fact that they have to cooperate but hey, I might be wrong. I love World War II games, and despite all the historical inaccuracies that David Vangárd... I mean, Call of Duty Vanguard committed, I am ultimately satisfied with this modern take on a WWII COD.
Don't buy any CoD game at full price if it's not the current one. Don't play any multiplayer if it's not the current one. I got this 60% off for $24, and it's tough to say i got my monies worth. Took me 6 hours to finish the campaign on normal difficulty. Would have liked the campaign to be a bit longer. I almost wonder if the "party members" that died, only died so they did not need a back story lol. The campaign quality is good, all the missions are varied and have great story. It really does feel like playing a movie. Im not really interested in the zombies, but if you are you will probably get more bang for your buck. Overall a fun game, just wish there was more.
