Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War delivers exactly what you'd expect: explosive action, conspiracy theories, and enough bullets flying around to make diplomacy seem wildly overrated. The campaign is genuinely entertaining, blending espionage with blockbuster spectacle in a way only Call of Duty can. Historical accuracy occasionally takes a back seat to cinematic excess, but nobody loads into a Call of Duty game hoping for a documentary. Multiplayer remains fast, addictive, and capable of transforming a relaxing evening into an existential debate about skill-based matchmaking. Gunplay feels responsive, progression is satisfying, and the familiar "just one more match" mentality quickly turns into discovering it's somehow 2 a.m. Then there's Zombies, arguably the mode that steals the show yet again. Cooperative chaos, hordes of undead, and enough replayability to justify countless sessions of poor decision-making. Cold War doesn't reinvent the franchise, but it understands the assignment perfectly. It's loud, polished, occasionally frustrating, and always ready to remind you that history is much more exciting when everyone involved is sprinting at full speed carrying automatic weapons. However, all this and Cold War is like every other Call Of Duty and should go back to its roots, where it was more than this, where it was peak FPS gaming.
