Buses not having multiple stops makes me believe this wasn't made by actual human beings...
I played tropico as a kid, tried it multiple times and enjoyed it. Last days I thought I will give Tropico 6 another go, this time with economical knowledge from games like Ymir, Eco, Soviet republic and so forth. And I realized, this game is made to be ONLY played as a tycoon. Many features are not thought through at all (like the budget system) and are just a facade of complexity. Which makes me quite disappointed and nodges me to play soviet republic in realistic mode instead. I do not think I will give tropico another go in my lifetime. For anyone who just wants something casual, give it a go. But get yourself maybe the older Tropicos for a cheaper price instead.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Finally got around to downloading this after playing Tropico 4 for so many years. Amazing game, and very glad that I don't need a $3000 computer to play it.
you can finally build on an archipelago instead of just a single island, HOWEVER the economy barely functions and the political and military aspects are a joke. really hoping that T7 is not your simcity 2013
I can't recommend this game unless you're a hardcore sim geek. Not even on sale. The constantly increasing happiness expectation means each level is a race against the clock. This considerably narrows the strategic options for each map. There's no room for play unless you put it on easy. Many of the money making buildings become a virtual liability 30% through the map so its a constant industry juggling game no matter what map you are on. The game is closer to a strategy puzzle game due to the narrow paths of city options as the years go by. I feel Tropico has lost its edge after Tropico 4. The campaign maps are snapshots in time rather than a cohesive narrative. This game feels like shovel-ware.
