It looks good visually but it feels incredibly unfinished and the fact the developer abandoned this to go work on a third installment without addressing the issues of this game makes it not worth the asking price.
It could be defined as a game somewhere in between SimCity 3000 and SimCity 4000. If you are old enough to have played those, the citybuilding and the city layouts are very similar to SC3000, but it has a nation feature that resembles SC4000, with added politics and a somewhat more indepth economic simulation. It is a nice game, but very simple and the gridlike cities are somewhat tiresome after a while. The politics side is a bit of simplistic too, but makes enough of a difference to affect your cities economics. You'll figure it out soon enough, and then it becomes a bit repetitive, too. It shows potentioal, and I'll certainly check out it's sequel. But it is finicky at times, not very pretty and I can only recommend it if you really enjoy the genre, or if you can get it on sale.
I expected a deeper version of Cities: Skylines and that's surely not what this game is. What it is is a lackluster city builder that would've looked more suitable on a mobile phone. The price of 25 euros feels like a crime that I'm going to rectify by requesting a refund
This is a cool city-building game. The economy is deep, you can choose laws ranging from gun freedom to healthcare. Trade and the way you can shape your economic focus are also quite nice. I would say the only downside is the lack of building variety. There are only one or two types of the main government buildings (such as police, schools, energy, and water facilities, and so on). There are some cool unlockable buildings that are very tall and futuristic. They’re not hard to unlock, but that’s basically it. I think that’s the main weakness, the creativity isn’t very strong. I recommend getting it on sale.
How is this game not more popular? It's what a city builder should be. If your goal is to make the prettiest city possible then go buy City Skylines but if you want to feel like your really managing a city this this is the game for you. Yes... there are a few things I wish were in the game.....like curved roads, more building variety and better explanation on how to interpret and apply all the numbers that the game throws at you....but...the dev has a new city builder coming out this year that I hope and prey will address the above mentioned issues.
better than city skylines fun optimized proffesional.
from a raw game perspective, this is hands down my favorite city builder. a lot of things could be improved - lack of diagonal roads or lots, no modding. traffic sometimes seem nonsensical and historical stat tracking could be better. there's no ongoing expansion packs like cities skylines. but city building is in the sweet spot and policy and government options are lightyears ahead of other city builders and visually looks great. to me is the spiritual successor to sim city 2000. looking forward to next iteration.
for a very small development studio, this game punches far far above it's weight. 10/10 really. only wish there were more updates
