It used to be a good game until they sold it and now it's been ruined by unnecessary DLC and props. Luckily you can go back to the update before paradox took over. Get it on sale.
Use to be able to play the game offline, no weird additional accounts required, over elaborate terms and conditions (some one through what info they will take from you) all of that makes unplayable.
I do recommend this game, on sale. Do not ever play full price for this unless you're just stupid. I have owned this game longer than I have had Steam, I originally played a *arrg matey* version for a year prior to buying it on steam. I enjoyed watching Introversion develop the game. It was quite the experience and it was great watching the main aspects flush out. Even today that is still worth the time. Its a really fun game. Its quite enjoyable. But over time the game got buggy. Some things just wouldn't work out, then the dev saw the golden egg...PARADOX they sold the game to them, and it turned into a DLC-fest. Sadly none of the bugs introversion left in the game got fixed, the DLC just made them weirder and a bigger problem. The game didn't need more content, especially irrelevent content. It needed better debuggers. The new developer, doesn't have a clue how to fix it. Nobody has solved that, and today its a fun game with bugs that will just break your game. Not make it unplayable, but it won't work they way its supposed to. I'm done with it. won't be playing it anymore it's been a great deal of entertainment for over 1000 hours for me and could be for you. Just know your not getting a polished, well finished game. Its buggy, and some of them will break your immersion. My suggestion if that happens. Sell your prison and take the money and start over. That is the goal after all. Make more money, build better. For less than $10 this is a solid pick, bugs and all. The DLC is really a mixed bag. Some of it is neat, some of it is stupid, some of it makes the bugs worse.
Paradox abandomed this game leaving it with a tons of bugs, troubleshooting takes more time than actual playing Not even the multiplayer servers work correctly
Prison Architect is one of those games that's dangerously good at making time disappear. You sit down thinking you'll fix a few cell blocks, optimize a couple work programs, and before you know it it's 2 AM and you're redesigning an entire maximum-security wing because one inmate stole a spoon. Even after nearly 50 hours, it's still incredibly satisfying watching a prison grow from a dirt lot into a fully functioning (and occasionally completely dysfunctional) correctional facility. The management, planning, and constant problem-solving create that perfect "just one more thing" gameplay loop. The game is nearly 11 years old at this point, and it definitely shows in places. There are bugs, odd behaviors, and plenty of quirks that longtime players have learned to live with. Since the game isn't receiving updates anymore, those quirks are pretty much permanent fixtures now. Honestly, after all these years, they're less bugs and more part of the Prison Architect experience. Despite that, the core gameplay still holds up remarkably well. Whether you're building an efficient rehabilitation-focused prison or accidentally creating a powder keg waiting for the next riot, there's always something demanding your attention. Every problem feels like it leads to three more, and somehow that's exactly what makes it so addictive. If you enjoy management and simulation games, this is still an easy recommendation. Just be warned: it's the kind of game where you look at the clock, think you've been playing for 20 minutes, and discover you've actually lost three hours.
everyone was angry and killing cops and overdosing and i couldn't figure out why. the only thing that fixed it was a room with a chessboard and a tv. 10/10 game
Game wont start ever since paradox was slapped on this game. don't buy, just look for some thing similar.
