It's a short game. Took me 17 hours to finish. There isn't a lot to do in the world as its pretty closed and the game only lets you traverse through small sections of the map. The story was alright but it ended too quickly. There was a lot of buildup of tension in the story at the end of chapter 2 but the game ended at chapter 3 really quickly, chapter 3 only took me less than 2.5 hours to beat. The game also felt too easy even on easy mode as I literally turned into a bullet sponge at the end. Ironically, the final boss dealt less damage than random kaedwani soldiers. Overall, it's an ok game but felt like nothing really carried over to TW3

The Witcher series are the best game ever
It's good
I love this game. The story, gameplay, and graphics still hold up almost 20 years later. However, I won't be coming back to this game and here's why: It's the bugs and crashes for me. I wasted much time was wasted replaying boss battles, missions, and sequences because the game thought that it would be the PERFECT time to crash or for Geralt to get stuck or experience a game breaking bug that I would force me to exit out of the game. I've tried dozens of fixes, but the issues would always come back no matter what. I beat the Witcher 1 recently, and it was a smooth experience compared to this. As it stands today, I won't be returning this game to play the different storyline (
I went with Roche for my playthrough
). I'll probably just watch a gameplay or a video essay on youtube. However, if you're patient and ok with the troubleshooting your game frequently, then this really isn't a bad game.
Aged like fine milk. Still good unless you swallow the crunchy bits.
My playtime hours are definitely not a lot, but I can tell you that at least 2 hours spent are from both trying to get the game to launch and struggling in the prologue portion. The game tends to not actually launch the game. When you boot the game on Steam, you are greeted through the game launcher, along with the usual options you can do. Pressing "Launch Game" causes the game to "pretend" to load, but it doesn't actually. This was really frustrating because I spent much time than anticipated looking for solutions to get the game running. Also, I think it's a poor idea to only be able to change keyboard controls on the game launcher because you can't actually edit them in-game. And secondly, the gameplay, controls, and the prologue portion/storyline... I really struggled. I could not even understand anything at all. Perhaps it's a me issue, but I was lost. Combat is wonky because blocking/parrying against enemies is inconsistent. I really want to try and play more of this game, but I just can't. Maybe I'd snag The Witcher 3 instead.
