When the sun goes down on the last night of summer camp, nine teenage counselors are plunged into an unpredictable night of horror. The only thing worse than the blood-drenched locals and creatures hunting them are the unimaginable choices you must make to help them survive.

The Quarry Review - Cabin Fever Done Right Rating: 8.5 out of 10 The Quarry is an interactive horror adventure that plays like a playable slasher movie. You control a group of hornball teenage camp counselors whose final night at a secluded summer camp goes spectacularly off the rails, making life or death decisions that determine who survives, who becomes monster bait, and who really should've listened to their gut. Instead of traditional combat, the game leans into exploration, dialogue choices, QTE, and a branching story where even innocent decisions can snowball into complete disaster. If you've ever watched a horror movie yelling, "Don't split up!" or "Why would you go into the creepy basement?" The Quarry finally hands you the controller and then politely gives you 2 bad choices to pick from Campfire Stories Worth Telling + The presentation is genuinely impressive. Character models, environments, lighting, and cinematics often look so realistic that my wife walked in and thought I was watching Netflix instead of gaming. The facial animations occasionally wander into deadeyes, but it's still one of Supermassive's best looking games. + Excellent voice acting sells the experience. The cast delivers convincing performances throughout, helping even the campiest moments land better than they otherwise would. + The mystery keeps you hooked. Between creepy hunters, unsettling locations, strange clues, and the constant feeling that something isn't quite right, the game does a great job building suspense without showing its hand. + The pacing dramatically improves. The opening chapters take their time, but once the story hits its stride around Chapters 3 and 4, the tension ramps up and rarely lets go. + Atmosphere is where The Quarry shines. Jump scares, eerie environments, unsettling music, and one particularly creepy fortune teller all combine to create a consistently tense horror experience. + Choices actually matter. Unlike many narrative games where decisions simply reshuffle dialogue, The Quarry makes your choices feel meaningful. Characters can live or die, relationships change, and events play out from different perspectives, making your decisions feel like they have real consequences. + Replayability is surprisingly strong. With a huge number of possible character outcomes and branching scenarios, there's plenty of incentive to revisit the story and see how different choices reshape the experience. Lost in the Woods - The opening is painfully slow. After an effective prologue, the game spends a little too long introducing everyone before the real horror begins. It eventually pays off, but getting there requires some patience. - Teenage drama won't click with everyone. Since The Quarry fully embraces its slasher movie roots, there's plenty of flirting, awkward romance, and teenage angst. As a grown adult man, I found myself checking out during some of those conversations, eager for the next creepy discovery instead. - Jacob is... Jacob. Every horror movie needs someone whose decision making skills should be studied by scientists and therapists. Congratulations, Jacob. One More Night Around the Fire +/- It's unmistakably a Supermassive game. If you've played Until Dawn or The Dark Pictures Anthology, you'll recognize the formula immediately, for better and for worse. The cinematic storytelling and branching choices remain engaging, but don't expect the studio to suddenly reinvent its style. +/- The dialogue is intentionally hit or miss. Sometimes it's funny, sometimes it's surprisingly heartfelt, and sometimes it's pure cringe worthy of a CW drama. Oddly enough, that inconsistency also makes the cast feel like actual teenagers, which fits the tone even when it makes you roll your eyes. Final Verdict The Quarry is exactly what I wanted: a creepy, story driven palate cleanser before diving into another 100 hour adventure RPG. Once it gets past its slow opening, the mystery, atmosphere, and choices create a horror adventure that's engaging. The presentation is excellent, the performances are intentional, and the branching story gives your decisions more weight than many games in the genre. It doesn't completely escape the usual Supermassive formula, and the teenage melodrama won't resonate with everyone, but the suspense, replayability, and payoff more than make up for it. I don't often replay narrative games, yet The Quarry is one of the few that actually makes me curious enough to see how differently things could unfold.
