This game could kick me and spit on me and I'd thank it
i like it
good game but dlc is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
The Evil Within crafts a disorienting journey through a nightmarish reality where psychological dread meets visceral, physical threats. Moving between the decaying village and the haunting hospital hub creates a cohesive, oppressive world that consistently keeps the player feeling small and uncertain within its gruesome, shifting architecture. Resource scarcity dictates every tactical decision, as counting individual bullets and syringes remains essential for survival against grotesque adversaries. Scavenging for supplies drives the exploration loop forward, forcing a cautious playstyle that prioritises avoiding conflict whenever the constant threat of instant-death encounters becomes too dangerous to face directly. Stealth serves as a necessary refuge, yet inconsistent detection rules occasionally make finding effective cover a frustrating endeavour during high-stakes moments. Basic shrubs offer no protection from patrolling enemies, which forces players to rely heavily on the crossbow to manipulate surroundings and maintain distance from the lethal, mutated threats. Burning corpses to prevent reanimation captures the grim tone, though executing this specific task often feels clunky amidst frantic enemy groups. Such mechanical friction interrupts the rhythm of combat encounters, highlighting a reliance on deliberate, slow-paced actions that contrast sharply with the erratic speed of the faster, more aggressive foes. Upgrading character statistics through the brain juice system offers a satisfying sense of progression despite requiring significant farming throughout the campaign. Developing these meaningful boosts slowly transforms the protagonist from a helpless victim into a calculated survivor who can effectively leverage traps and tactical positioning against overwhelming, surreal monsters. Restrictive camera proximity frequently hinders situational awareness, especially during claustrophobic skirmishes inside tight, industrial corridors. This lack of peripheral vision makes navigating intense sequences difficult, requiring constant adjustments to avoid unfair damage from off-screen attackers while desperately attempting to manage the game's various instant-death triggers and boss mechanics. Overall, the tension-filled encounter loop succeeds by forcing a balance between risky stealth and precise, high-pressure gunfights. Mastering these complex survival systems turns early feelings of restriction into a calculated, atmospheric horror experience that rewards those patient enough to navigate its brutal, unforgiving approach to player vulnerability and resource management.
