**Spoilers** I want to start with this since people always seem to point it out when it comes to indie games. It does not matter if it was made by 1 person or 1,000 people. It doesnt matter if its a single person in a garage or a team in a major studio. Both can and have put out beautiful, amazing, and unique games but equally have a chance of putting out crap. This games falls somewhere in the middle. This game started off sooo good, it had an interesting story line, a very nice ambience, good characters, some very fun puzzles in the early game and decent character development. You don't get to know much about the main character or the supporting cast but everything you do learn makes sense in the context of the game. But as the game continues all of the bugs and glitches just become so over bearing it almost becomes unplayable. The combat seems to be trying to imitate the last off us, fight head on or distract the enemy for the sneak damage. Issues become apparent after the first encounter in the game. When it comes to fighting head on melee you either miss a majority of the swings because of the controls and camera angles or you become almost fused within the enemy and they just stand there while you beat them to death. Weapons will break quite often and when using a wooden weapon to beat an alien demon thingy to death it makes sense but when using items like the metal pipe or rock it is very impractical that after killing 2 or 3 enemies that it would shatter. The range combat is VERY hit or miss (Except the taser). You can be sitting still on a stationary target with the cross hair trained on the target and still manage the miss the target but also you can aim at a targets stomach and somehow get a head shot(Except the taser). This becomes very frustrating on puzzles that require you to hit a target to progress. A large majority of your combat is going to come from; running around spamming r to hear for enemies, once you find some go into sneak, perform your sneak attack, and then move on. You wont be using a lot of the throwing items like fruit or cans to distract the items partly because its unnecessary but mostly because you can only throw most items about 2 feet. If you use sneak melee most of the time you wont alert other enemies and as a bonus you can perform sneak attacks through walls if you are in the right position. Also just use the taser when you can it is very OP and you can 1-shot taser sniper a guy from across the map. Theres also a bear trap you can put down but 90% of the time I managed to trap myself in it so I ignored using it. I really enjoyed the puzzles in this game. There was a lot of "AH OF COURSE" moments that are the bane of all gamers but show that the developer put a lot of effort into them. These puzzles, for the most part, show not only did the developer put in a lot of effort but it also showed care. It showed someone who really wanted to make a quality experience in a survival horror game instead of follow the cliches that are becoming so common. There are two major issues that come with the puzzles. Some of the smaller puzzles (Use the doll to get through the space or walk through this area in a certain way) are prone to getting bugged out if you do a number of things such as falling off a platform, crouching in the wrong place, or opening your inventory at the wrong time. Most of the larger puzzles require you to have certain items whether it be a melee weapon, ammo, or a fire extinguisher and if you use this items too early or use them out of order you will become stuck and have to restart the level. This isnt uncommon but the issues it not knowing you need the item until spending a good amount of time on the puzzle and than having to restart to make sure you have said items. Its very reminiscent of old school N64 and PC rpg games and its something that should be surely eliminated. The controls and camera angle are what breaks things like combat and immersion for me. The controls are a bit slippery which wouldnt be a big deal and would actually work very well with this game but with the fact that the camera will not only clip outside of the map 90% of the time but will also bump off of objects in the map it makes it really hard to navigate the map or engage in combat. Controls are always hard to explain so I wont focus on them and the camera getting caught on objects and clipping outside of walls are something that all gamers have experienced so I dont have to go in depth. I don't want to give the wrong impression with my review, I actually loved this game. There were just so many issues that I found while playing that I cant recommend people spend 15$ on a game that I think should still be in beta. If you have an extra 15$ that you can waste pick up the game but if not keep this game on follow and check back for future updates. I want to follow this with a list of glitches I found within 4 hours of play. Some Major, Some minor. I have faith the dev can fix all of these. -Able to sneak kill enemies through walls and corners -When going into the "Doll" you can sometimes be put into a wall or object or out of bounds -Camera will clip outside of walls allowing you to see enemies -Crouching underneath object and opening your inventory will cause your character to lock and not be able to stand up -Dropping inventory on the ground and picking all items at once allows you to hold more than max items in your pack -Picking up items while balancing on a beam will sometimes like character in a T pose -Some items dont have descriptions -Firing a gun in front of a dead enemy can sometimes cause them to respawn -Crouching when walking away from a set bear trap player will sometimes become trapped -Flashlight Disappears (Might not be a bug) -Sometimes unable to select items if opening inventory too close to wall or object
Overview Horror games, particularly those of the indie variety, are perhaps the most hit-or-miss genre in gaming. Diving into these titles is a mixed bag of twenty underwhelming titles for every shining gem that you find, though those gems often make all of the effort worth it. There Is No Tomorrow breaks out of the mold of this philosophy as it fits neither extreme; it’s not going to establish itself as a classic but it isn’t a waste of space on your drive either, as long as you set your expectations realistically. Ode To The Classics Those with experience with the horror classics of the past will quickly identify plenty of There Is No Tomorrow’s inspirations. Many of the monsters remind me of Silent Hill with their appearance, mannerisms, and audio, though throwing in a touch of Dead Space might not be too far off the mark as well. Stealth is important as enemies are strong enough to be a threat if they get their hands on you, though your firearms are extremely powerful for the genre and can off most foes with a single headshot. It’s possible to use a takedown on enemies that you’ve managed to sneak up on, though the animation isn’t all that impressive as it’s only a slight variation on your normal attacks that cracks them in the dome. The stealth mechanics are a nice addition to the classic formula, but there’s nothing particularly new with them that will surprise a semi-regular gamer. Two aspects of the classics show themselves here that I wish hadn’t, namely checkpoints with too much distance between them and harsh inventory management. Checkpoints can be far enough apart that you lose a significant amount of progress if you die and this is only made worse by actual autosaves only taking place after the completion of a level. This means that you could potentially lose an hour or more of your efforts if you have to shut it down, it crashes, or you suffer a game-breaking bug (more on that later). There are a few additions that I do enjoy for being less prevalent in the game’s peers though. For one, you can kick the average enemy to push them; it’s good, clean fun to kick a horrid abomination into a bottomless pit “This Is Sparta!” style and it has the effect of preserving your weapons that usually lack any real durability. Listening for enemies is another nice touch, when you do so nearby enemies will highlight in red, revealing their location and giving you a jump on them whether you plan to sneak past or just off them entirely. This helped to preserve my health frequently, though a part of me wonders if this was just put in as a workaround for the lackluster audio design. Flawed Design There are a number of issues that arose for me as I played There Is No Tomorrow. Right off the bat, there was no controller support which I would’ve greatly preferred, though it seems that it may be implemented soon. The animations are a bit undercooked but not terrible as long as you temper your expectations for what’s on offer here beforehand. There are a few obvious visual glitches that I’m surprised are still present as well, specifically one that causes the corpses of your enemies to jump around when you open and close your inventory. That said, the greatest sin committed here is the very basic and seemingly incomplete audio. Many things that should make noise don’t and even otherwise tense moments suffer from a disconnect due to this. I watched one monster repeatedly pounding on a door though there was no audio involved in it whatsoever. I feel that the monster, in particular, should make far more noise which would allow you to detect them via audio instead of the ushered in ‘listening’ mechanic. The atmosphere could benefit from some serious improvement as well, even if it’s something as small as a looping background track that changes based on the level. There is a complete lack of voice acting in the game, though this wouldn’t necessarily be a problem other than the fact that the writing has spelling and grammatical errors to spare that tarnish the otherwise decent narrative. Verdict There Is No Tomorrow is an ambitious and impressive achievement for a single developer but it consistently feels like it’s still under development. From its basic visuals and audio to its occasionally buggy nature, I can’t recommend it over the other excellent horror titles that are out there waiting to be played. However, it isn’t a terrible game, even if it has its problems. If you’re the type that likes to dive in with both feet and surprise yourself with indie horror, you could do much worse than this one. I will say that I hope that KOEX studio has learned from the experience as I could see future games being excellent if they continue to build on what I’ve seen here. 我能送给你的,大概就是差评了。游戏内容只有十分钟。因为穿好衣服后,并不能出去。至于操作僵硬等游戏性的东西,不想说了。
There is no Tomorrow is very good third-person horror game that everyone should own. The game has interesting puzzle/story, amazing cutscene and well crafted maps. The only thing i disliked was melee combat because it is very clunky unless you use the sneak attack with the X key otherwise the combat with the handgun works pretty well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIgo9pH-ScQ
In ambitious adventure/puzzle horror game with what looks to be a deep, dark story within. See my and my moderators first impressions play in this indie livestream HERE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uS9eiWE3B4U A much better indie game than the developers previous title "All of Zhem" My only minor complaints are: 1) This game lacks all resolution and graphics settings and also has NO volume controls or sliders. Unacceptable for a game priced this high and a game like this. Please fix this @ dev. 2) Sometimes the movement and cameras feel a little janky, but you'll get used to it. Overall, just based on my first impressions 45-50 minutes of play, I'd rate what I played so far as a 8 out of 10 and this is what seems to be by far as this developers best title. This score might go up and down a little as I play more of the game.
The premise for the game seemed interesting but honestly the controls and camera are extremely clunky and the game just doesn't look appealing when you are playing it. It's a mess of browns and greys. I know the idea is to get across the feeling of an oppressive atmosphere but you need to take more notes from the Silent Hill games instead of late 2000 era first person shooters on your colour palette and level design choices. Dark story, creepy creatures, adventure, puzzles, stealth or shooting, choices to make that lead to multiple endings - a hugely ambitious project for one-person-development that definitely paid off! https://youtu.be/kzZENx4Y_Yw
I don't understand why everyone complains about the game, the game does not pretend to be the game of the year, but it has interesting puzzles, monsters, a variety of weapons, a stealth mode, a good story and a great price(especially at a discount). For all the time I played the game, I failed 1 time in the textures. I really liked the game, I recommend playing it!
+ İnteresting story + Puzzles + Dialogs 8/10 Game is really different and good I played 30 mins on my youtube channel : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7d5V2DOnlo
