good game 8\10
A solid game, it has a lot to its credit that it takes quite a long time, about 12 hours, it took me to beat the game. Considering that I played the first 6 hours on a harder level and then switched to a lighter difficulty level, and here is the reason why. I love this type of game where we have some kind of crime horror drama. As for the story, it is solid for this type of game, what makes this game, let's say "recognizable", is the gameplay itself. And here we have a very bad example of this type of gameplay. As for the plot, it is a bit too slow, but that is more of a test for it, but it is not bad just for that reason.... there are some other things that I did not like. For example, the thing that bothers me the most is that they have two black bars and the game itself is unplayable because of that, it hurts my eyes, and as for the responsiveness of the actions, they are very sluggish, slow and indecisive. A large number of times in the game you die because of the very slow weapon handling and while you fire a bullet to save yourself, you die at that very moment. I would say for this game that you need to calculate very well how much time it takes for the player to stop and take the weapon out of his shirt and how much time it takes for him to raise that weapon towards the enemy, and you also need to calculate how much time it takes for the time to pass from the idle animation to the run animation, it seems a little, but when you are being chased by enemies it is very frustrating. Especially at the beginning of the game, the first 2 hours, the game does not give you any tutorials or hints to explain the basics of the gameplay of its game how some basic things work. But that is not the case here, here they just throw you into the story and gameplay and you just go for it and manage as you know how. As for dying in 12 hours, I died 65 times, I can tell you that due to the sluggishness of the character's animations and the poor design of the world, I died at least 50 times, and everything else is my fault. And for the very end, I can say that I will play the second part and hope that it is even better than this, because I have not played such a bad game with such gameplay in a long time.
buen juego . lo recomiendo mucho!!
Wanted to like it. Turns out it's a derivative, trial-and-error filled slog. Basically every enemy save for the basic zombies has an insta-kill attack, it's never truly scary and Shinji Mikami is more focused on replicating resident evil with silent hill trauma monsters than anything original or memorable. Headshots are satisfying to pull off but otherwise combat is clunky and annoying. Gameplay in general feels outdated for a game from 2014. Apparently there was an update to the microsoft store version of The Evil Within that added an FOV slider and a first person mode among other fixes. SO WHY ARE THEY NOT IN THE STEAM VERSION? On top of that, the game breaks on framerates higher than 30. I know japanese game devs have never been great at PC ports but this is ridiculous. Storyline is alright, albeit a bit hard to follow. There's DLCs that flesh it out but they're boring no weapons levels so I'm just gonna watch a playthrough of them and call it a day. I can only hope there isn't evil within the second game, too.
If you hate camera bobbing. Don't buy it. It can't be turned off in steam version. Btw, the devs do add a option to lower the camera bob at the Xbox gamepass version but seems they don't care about people on steam. What a shame.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid game man. no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sense in the whole story. boring asf. poor mechanics. poor bosses. basically ♥♥♥♥
