As much I loved the original game, this game just isn't worth buying. As many others have said this "AAA" game feels more like an early access game because of all the bugs and extreme amount of crashes. Even after spending hours doing patches and work arounds, this game is more tedious than fun. You're constantly worrying about whether your game will crash mid dungeon crawl or if just walking up to the next ruin will cause everything to break. On top of the performance issues there is the questionable choice of artstyle for this remaster... The faces of everyone just look...off. Some are passable, but others (looking at you Orcs and Argonians) are just horrible to look at. I'm not saying you can't have fun with this as it's still the same old game deep down, but unless you're really desperate for old content with a new coat of paint, I'd pass and just play the original. It's probably got mods to make it look almost as good and will run MUCH smoother with WAY more content (considering the Remaster has WAY fewer mods than the original).
I adore the Elder Scroll series, Oblivion being my favorite so far. The plot feels exciting and larger than life, a true power fantasy. Many of the storylines in the game are similar to familiar books and movies. The main storyline is awfully similar to Lord of the Rings. The Thieves guild storyline is Robinhood right down to the greedy sheriff (Captain of the guard?) taxing the poor. I have great memories of playing through some of my favorite stories as the main character. What more could you want in a video game? Truly, Oblivion is one of my favorite games if not my favorite game. However, all of that praise is for the original Oblivion. The remastered edition was incredibly disappointing for two main reasons. The first was that there isn't a lot of additional content, but I could get over that. The price is almost worth it just for the graphics updates. But then that leads to my second issue. When I first bought this game, my laptop was able to run it. Then they updated the game. My laptop is now unable to run the game. It's incredibly frustrating that this game is so much bigger and requires a significantly beefier computer than Skyrim despite not actually looking that much better. I have a computer that's beefier than my laptop, so I technically can play it at some point, but I'd rather play Skyrim because I can play on my laptop from anywhere. Side note: It's not like the game developers actually fixed the bugginess of the original game. I still often have to use cheats or load a previous save to fix a buggy quest. The fish quest in particular is somehow buggier than original. TLDR; Love Oblivion, but can't run Remastered on my laptop. Not really any new content and still just as buggy as the original. Hate fish quest.
Most unoptimized piece of fecal matter to ever grace my steam library, do not buy. They have abandoned the game and refused to fix the performance issues, the game is 100 gigs of bloatware for your PC.
abandonware
Not optimized, not playable
actually unplayable due to performance issues. Appears to have been entirely untested
у меня есть некие подозрения, ну так, совсем небольшие, что меня просто прогрели на 2,5тыс деревяных. Без модов просто неиграбельный кусок кода смешанный с фекалиями
Asked a guard for rumours which started a quest in a city I hadn't been to yet. Started riding towards that city, exploring along the way. Got to the city, slept in the inn outside to level up, then tried to enter. Immediate CTD. Tried again. CTD. Looked it up to see if there's a fix, and there are threads going back not just to the remaster's release date, but to the release date of the original game, despite the remaster being a complete rebuild on an entirely different engine. Found one comment with some suggestions so I tried them. 3 more CTDs. Tried another suggestion of loading an earlier save outside of the area the city is in and turning off some settings. It meant undoing 90 minutes of play time but I'd rather just fix it atp. Rode straight to the city without exploring and tried to enter through a different gate. CTD. An entire city's worth of content is inaccessible to me without completely restarting the game, so I'm just not gonna bother. After Fallout 4/76, Starflop, and now this, I genuinely don't know why MS hasn't gutted Bethesda. ♥♥♥♥ Anvil, ♥♥♥♥ Todd "it just works" Howard, and ♥♥♥♥ Unreal Engine.
if i could play the game i might give it a thumbs up but it crashes so much its stupid and frustrating
