About
Subnautica 2 is an underwater survival adventure game set on an all-new alien world. It is the next chapter in the Subnautica universe, developed by Unknown Worlds.
Driven from your home by ongoing conflict, Alterra offers you the chance at a new life. But as the colony ship CICADA shepherds you and your fellow Pioneers to your new home, something goes awry. The ship’s AI insists that your mission should continue. Stranded and faced with near-insurmountable odds, you must do everything in your power to survive. The future of humanity on this world is in your hands.
Subnautica 2 is being crafted as a single-player experience that you can optionally play in online co-operative multiplayer with up to three friends. You can choose from four pre-designed characters, with more characters and customization options coming throughout Early Access. Work together to explore long-forgotten ruins and learn to adapt to a planet that might not want you there.
To survive the depths and make this planet your home, you’ll need to utilize all the tools at your disposal. Traverse vibrant and breathtaking biomes with your Tadpole submersible. Design and customize bases to return to when your adventures push you beyond the safety of shallow waters. As Early Access develops, so too will your array of tools, equipment, and vehicles. Upgrades will help push you beyond your boundaries and unlock the secrets of this strange world.
Scan and study a rich world of biodiversity to understand life here. Discover everything from the smallest creatures to towering Leviathans. Experience the wonder, and sometimes danger, lurking around every corner. Every dive is an opportunity to uncover why the ship's AI is so determined to continue the mission and what mysteries lie beneath the surface of this breathtaking new frontier.
Subnautica 2 is an Early Access title in active development. Throughout this journey, we will continuously expand the world with additional biomes, creatures, and craftables, while expanding the narrative. You may encounter bugs, in-development features, and performance issues. Your feedback is the cornerstone of our development process. Join us and help shape the next chapter of the Subnautica universe.
Subnautica 2 is being developed by Unknown Worlds, the studio behind the award-winning Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero. Our journey began with the 2003 Half-Life mod Natural Selection, and today we have evolved into a fully remote, globally distributed team spanning from the United States to the United Kingdom, France, Australia, and beyond. Defined by a philosophy of open development and over a decade of community-focused innovation, we invite you to dive back into the depths with a studio dedicated to pushing the boundaries of the survival genre.

Dev response to combat killed the game for me personally. If I can't defend myself against a hostile creature I really just rather not play.
Scam, they promised a lot but game have barely any gameplay. Krafton was kinda right.

COULD YOU GUYS WORK ANY SLOWER? WHERE THE CONTENT?
I like the progression that's adjecent to your story without the story being in the way of pure gameplay. the creatures are cool and fascinating, however the amount is a bit lackluster but that should be expected of early acces. there are some bugs here and there but most of them came down to being a visual bug. i don't really like the map layout of basicly going in a straight line being split by one thing, but that will probably be changed in the future(itbetter be). so I like the game but I wouldn't recommend it currently. (also please let me explode the airship fish. I was so dissapointed that it didn't work.)
4 Hours is too much for a refund. I'm past 14 days too. The problem is though... I was never aware that not being able to kill the incredibly hostile and aggravating wildlife was a feature... not a bug. I just... my head really hurts with this decision. The first one, you could kill hostile wildlife... it was kinda part of survival. This game... wtf is the logic????!!! "What if we just make you reprint, so canonically you can just let yourself get killed and it's no big deal?" I especially love the absolutely braindead dev's outlook; They apparently want me to feel "helpless". My guy... MY BROTHER IN CHRIST... I HAVE SEVERE HYRDOPHOBIA!!! I do not fear the creatures of the deep, I find them annoying, and impassable without the right equipment. Your creatures, are absolutely laughable as predators. The entire ecology of your world fails on the premise that none of these things can be killed. I can forgive not allowing guns... somewhat makes sense that a giant corpo would make a decision like that. It's ironic though, because here we are with a real world corpo making decisions on how I should enjoy SURVIVAL!!! This game is cancer. Do not buy. If you enjoy this... ok, do you, but I wouldn't brag about enjoying the taste of poo.
Constantly crashes. I play for an hour or two, then have to reinstall drivers and the game itself, but it just corrupts itself again and then crashes after less than a minute. Would change to recommend if I could play it more.
It was promised for years then released under the banner of "early access" to excuse all manner of reasons why you shouldn't buy this game: - the story length (not even playable at this stage), biome diversity and extent feel like 50% of what subzero delivered - lazy mechanics that remove the mystery of the previous games - bugs so obvious and annoying they demonstrate real lack of care or competence - so many features within the world that seem interesting, only to be either apparent placeholders or inert models. So much so that I stopped caring to explore, expecting only disappointment Wait for this to have far more content added before wasting your time and money on it.
Look, for a game with no map the UI is crap and is designed to make you lost. This is the same as the first game but now the novelty of having no idea where you are is over. Just leaving the tadpole means you may never see it again as the UI makes no attempt to guide you where it is. Multiplayer is awful as its not easy to actually find people at all then meet up with them. The amount of times i have died in a cave because i cant even find the vehicle i just left is numerous and i can no longer be bothered to keep going...
no combat, cant defend yourself against enemies, Lots of bugs, understandably for early access but not at all equivalent to sub 1 as far as gameplay goes. All the background semantics definitely got in the way of this games creation.
