Had high hopes for the game, but it fell short. Combat heavily relies on one thing and one thing only, perfect parries, and its the most annoying thing to do in this game, because of the huge delays of attacks it makes it annoying because you have to stand there waiting for it. God forbid you make a mistake, you are going to die in all boss fights, I get that it has to be challenging but its annoying, and again the culprit is the delay before witch you can do anything. But almost all attacks are combos from bosses and they just chain together. Also the movement, it is not precise enough, but you have to be anyway, because you can interact with well, interactables from exactly one tiny sopt, and you have to be in that exact position, like, why? I just want to sit down, I should be able to do it from 30cm beside it, but the game is like NO! I came in blind to this game, and I personally I'm not a fan of ELDEN RING esc respan/save. I felt it didn't belong in this game. Especially how you start again after a Boss fight, you waste so much time running. Its not at all fun. Not to mention, the animation time once you reach the boss fight location, wait again, and then while doing the boss fight wait again because ofc you have to time the insaly huge delay for a perfect parry. The story was fine, its ok. I did complete the story, and usually I'm intrested in contunuing the journey for collectibles and what not but this is impossible here. Like, why would I wait on the main sotry because I have not yet cought that one fish, ohh sorry I didn't find all the cans, yes because I wanted to roam around more after I become the strongest after the final boss fight. But NO! They even give you upgrade materials after the final fight, I just have one question to the devs.... To what end? (NG+ is not good enough of a reason) Fortunately I had completed all the side quests and most collectibles before, but it is such a waste.
I'd never heard anything about the soundtrack before playing, but what an incredible soundtrack it is. I stop for long periods of time to listen to the music at rest points. It's really beautiful. I'm shocked that this game was maligned. It's objectively good, reminding me of titles from the xbox golden-age with modernized fighting mechanics. It's a very videogame-y videogame in all the best ways. Stellar Blade reminds me that quality single player action games are still very much alive and well. And this one has fantastic butts in it.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ game that has horrendous mechanics . only playing to get 100% and the occasional fun stuff
Stellar Blade, a extremely fun character action game, It may start off slow but ramps up the action the further you get into the game. The main difference between this and games like DMC or nier is that this game puts in a parry mechanic. not to say that those games dont have one but the way it is utilized here feels more out of a necessity then something you can do. Mainly being that dodge in this game is not as strong as in those games. You will need to parry. Parrying adds a differnt level of focus/ observation to the game of memorizing and looking at the wind ups to moves. Correctly timing the attacks and parrying feels satisfying and is even more so when Eve can lay out a bunch of damage, in unique cool ways. Theres some skill expression here between what combos you do to what beta skills you choose to use your resource on. Instead of just doing a light or heavy combo there is some variance to how you punish bosses and enemies. And if you do it right you might lock some enemies out of a turn completely killing them before they can act. Its this act of playing defensive just enough for you to go monkey mode which is really fun. The story isnt any thing special however I do love the world and lore they set up here. The characters and story are serviceable enough to keep you going. I like the ideas and themes but I think the execution could have been better. The music and visuals are well done to the point where your goona be jamming out to tracks and just looking at some of the amazing backdrops. Overall If a more calculated character action sounds like something you want to try. please try this.
Great game and definitely worth it in my opinion. The combat is honestly the biggest reason to play this game. It's fast, satisfying, and kept me hooked the whole way through. The story is good, but it wasn't anything groundbreaking for me. My favorite game story is still Titanfall 2. There are over 100 outfits you can unlock for free, and the DLCs add even more skins with a little extra content. I'm currently on New Game++ trying to collect the remaining outfit variants and other cosmetics. I actually wasn't planning on buying this game at first because of the over-the-top jiggle physics and some of the more "gooner" outfits. After YouTube kept recommending gameplay videos, I finally watched a few and the combat looked so good that I decided to give it a shot. I'm honestly glad I did. Is it worth the price? I bought the base game through a Steam key for around €35, then picked up the DLCs separately on sale for €6.99, €12.05, and €0.66. If you're only interested in the gameplay, I'd say just get the base game. If you already know you're going to want all the extra content, I'd recommend buying the Complete Edition instead. I don't really think the DLCs are worth buying separately at full price. Would I recommend this game? Absolutely. Will I play it again after getting 100%? Probably not until Stellar Blade: Blood Rain releases. It'll be a good excuse to replay the story and get myself hyped again.
