JOGAÇO!!! ANCIOSO PELO PRÓXIMO JOGO :)
amazing
Gran juego

Stellar Blade is a game that has great combat, that honestly gets better and better as you play more. The OST is excellent. The visual textures and graphics overall are stunning, and are probably the best in the "Souls-like" "Hack N Slash" genre. Performance wise, this game runs smooth as butter from start to finish. The game is about an 8/10 to me. The story is surprisingly good as well, with a very thought out ending.
This review is more neutral than is negative, but since we still have no neutral option, I'm giving it a negative. Man, so where to start. Stellar blade is seemingly a gorgeous game with with excellent visuals and an excellent combat system. I say seemingly because I think the devs took "inspired by nier" too literally tried too hard to recreate Nier Automata without realizing what made Nier so captivating and memorable. You can't just recreate Nier without understanding the "soul" of Nier. So instead of a masterpiece, we got this uninspired game, which for some reason is glazed in reviews as being "captivating, classic masterpiece, everything is just perfect." Lets start with combat. I think combat was the one good thing about this game and that's not saying much as the combat was mid. The combat system is pretty much just hack-and slash with a mixture of dodge, block, and parry. Fairly straightforward combat system that most people have seen an iteration of in most soulslike or some modern action games. The combat is praised in quite a few reviews that I looked at, but it so basic and undeveloped that theres nothing to praise. The skill tree seems like an afterthought. It changes up the way some skills are handled, but not in such a way that greatly enhances gameplay. There's no enemy juggling, very little flying enemies to even justify the useless excuse of air combat, being locked into attack animations, and QTE dodges feel so out of place. The QTE dodges honestly felt like another way to showcase a new cinemtic angle to EVE than to actually enhance combat. I wouldn't classify combat as being bad per se, but it is undoubtly rigid in my eyes and crafted to pretty much be played in a very specific way. Also adding another piece to the combat system nearly halfway into the game was wack especially with what that new combat system was. The system felt so off and the change in attack skills didn't feel cohesive at all. In my opinion, combat started off pretty fun, but by the mid point, it just felt like a parry-simulator with mindlessly spamming the same skills/attacks. Felt super linear. Not a huge fan of the combat system. Enemy variety was pretty decent from area to area. Enemies (Naytibas) felt different enough that they gave a breath of fresh air when switching biomes. The Elite Naytibas were kind of "meh" aside from the few in the last chapters of the game which were actually really fun to fight. The Alpha Naytibas were most definitely the best part of the game. The design and the combat challenge provided by the Alpha Naytibas was really fantastic. Also the boss challenge is spot on. The boss challenge which is accessed through the main menu, provides a way for you to replay boss fights
including a Scarlet from Nikke boss fight which was really difficult.
For those that enjoy a challenge, this would probably be one of the few great things that this game has to offer. I think variety of enemy types was fairly solid, and I was more irritated with repeated encounters because of the combat system rather than enemy attacks or mechanics. Biomes themselves were just ok. Too much desert and not enough variety.
After the point of no return you do see several more biomes including a icy snow like biome as well as space elevator/outer space area.
Lets move on to the story. It was straight horse manure. The lore and tidbits of information that you find are fairly interesting. World building is pretty great I dare say, and I can say that I am somewhat invested in a sequel only because this game left much to be desired. Some of the side story content
such as the one involving the robot singer Enya
were fairly ok although a lot of it was your typical fetch quests, but the main story was just uninspired. Characters felt flat. Even Eve felt so unidimensional. Character actions and motivations felt so lackluster amd made me care very little for them and for what they were trying to accomplish. Voice acting never really felt coherent and lord knows I tried listening to the English, JP, and Korea VA. I just stuck with Korean VA because it all felt fairly forced to me and I felt too lazy to switch. So in summary the story is about humanoid androids from a space colony sent to earth to save humanity from ruin. In my opinion it was trying too hard to be a Nier Automata spiritual successor without truly carving out a path of its own. Also there seems to be some weird korean obsession with biblical symbolism. My first encounter was reading a Korea webnovel and afterwards I noticed it appearing in some manhwas. Maybe its recency bias, but the moment I saw the main character EVE and Adam it just felt so on the nose. Of all the names that you could go with, they decided to go with the two most notable biblical names in history. Not even counting the billions of religious people that are aware of the story of Adam and Eve, there are even more non-religious folk that are probably aware of the story.
I understand the symobolic intentions of the writers given the ending and who Adam turns out to be, but to use some of the most popular biblical names in history is certainly a choice.
The strong association of the names with exisiting stories takes away how memorable something becomes. You can give existing stories a subtle nod without being so blatant about it. Again I don't mean to glaze Nier Automata, but 2B will forever be associated with Nier. Ezio will forever be associated with Assasin's Creed. Mario will forever be associated with Mario. So to choose Eve as the main character's name and Adam as a supporting character's name is kind of baffling considering the already existing strong association. Poor choice imo. The Nier crossover was fairly ok. The base game collectibles as well as the Nier ones just became a huge hassle to collect. There's just way too much of them and they aren't fun to collect, although I will say it was sorta nostalgic seeing the getups for 2B, 9S, and A2. Then we have the Nikke dlc. Absolutely solid. I don't care much for the nano suits that the dlc provided, but the short Nikke like minigames were very fun. If they made a standalone 10 or 15 hour game of just that minigame, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. This minigame was so nostalgic. It gives off that early 2010's mobile cover shooter vibe like contract killer and frontline commando. Those were abolutely some of the worst mobile games in existence, but this Nikke minigame essentially modernized version of that albeit better in everyway. Solid 10/10 minigame. The music in this game was mostly great. I'm not a huge fan of the heavy metal music, or whatever it is that they played during some of the boss fights, but man, the stuff composed by Keiichi Okabe instantly brought me back to when I was playing Nier. Okabe and the MONACA studio did a phenomenal job with music composition. Exploration, camp tunes, and rest areas were all solid. I saw that the dev's also had a lot of in house sound design and I have no complaints there aside from the heavy metal/electronic stuff. I was straight vibin with the music, and its honestly the main reason why I even stuck with the game. Nano suits I won't even get into. There's a ton of them so you can dress up and be your best dream girl. Also there's clearly a whole subset of people who only played Stellar Blade for the gooner nano suits and I aint judging, but just because you were too busy gooning to them cheeks don't make this game a masterpiece. Game performance was good. Played on maxed settings and only had a few stutters no crashes. Tl;dr game is mid. combat was forgetful. enemy varitey/design very good. story non-existent/terrible. side content mostly boring. world building fairly good. dlc content very decent. music superb. Not the worst I've seen, but no the best. Play Nier instead. Somewhat looking forward to the sequel to see if it reedeems itself. 6/10
